Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This car gets more looks, smiles, waves, and starts more conversations than any other car I have ever owned. It is a blast to drive around town in summer with my kids, take to the local Italian car shows, surprise our friends with, etc. This Multipla is the 4/5 seater, which converts to a cargo wagon and a camper. It is in solid condition. I store it in my garage year round, and don’t drive it in the rain. I have owned it since 2003 and put on less than 1000 miles. The odometer shows 42,6XX miles . The previous owner was local, and he owned it for only a year or so. He repainted the car in Sikkens Autocryl pale blue with an offwhite roof. The owner before him was a local businessman who used the car to promote his company. He owned the car for several years, drove it extensively, used it for camping, etc. The owner before him imported the car from Portland, Oregon in the 80's. Prior to that it had spent its life in the dry climate of eastern Washington state. The car was originally sold by Locati Motors in Walla Walla, Washington. I have had the car serviced regularly at a local Italian car specialist. I have receipts for about $4,000 worth of maintenance and repair work I have had done since I have owned the car. Approximately half of that was for brake work in 2008 and 2009 which involved replacing the master cylinder, slave cylinders and replacing worn shoes and drums. The car also has a new (2009) battery. The previous owner replaced the voltage regulator, points, cap, condensor, and thermostat. The engine starts readily, the clutch and 4 speed transmission work smoothly, horn (very cute!), turn signals, wipers, gauges, headlights, etc all work, the car drives and handles as one would expect (slow and noisy!), and it stops safely and reliably. The glass is all good, no chips or cracks, and all brightwork is present and shiny. The vinyl upholstery is in good shape with just a couple small tears, the seats all fold up/down properly and lock in place securely. The dashboard is clean with no extra holes, marks, etc. The steering wheel is in excellent shape. All trim, handles, knobs, etc. are present, as is the spare tire. The front rubber floormats are recent reproductions As for needs, the car is a good driver, and I put it in local car shows, but it is not in ‘showroom’ condition. The biggest issue is the home paint job the previous owner applied. There are some sags, drips, overspray, etc. that are visible up close. There are a couple small bubbles under the paint near the bottom. These have been stable since I have owned the car. The sliding windows don’t slide, and I have not tried to use the heater. The van would benefit from new tires, but the present ones are OK. The car comes with the “Fiat 600 Sedan and Multipla Shop Manual” published by Fiat in Turin Italy, as well as the Fiat 850 Owner’s Workshop Manual published by Autobooks, this latter book being applicable only to the new engine in the car. I also have a custom locking car cover, several Multipla brochures, and a box of miscellaneous parts that I will include. There is also a handwritten letter from 2002 penned by the gentleman who owned the car in 1971. The 1960 BC license plate will be included as well. The original 21 HP engine was replaced at least ten years ago with a 903 cc engine from a Fiat 850 with 2-bbl weber carb, Ducettier distributor and Columbo cam. . This new engine runs in the reverse direction to match what the Mulitpla requires. It is a drop in replacement and fits perfectly in the engine compartment. The engine has been very reliable for me and has never required anything other than tune ups. I find the car keeps up with city traffic, other than being very slow off the line. It does have a top speed of about 45 mph so is not suitable for use on all roads.Note that the car came with, and still has, no radio or seatbelts. As the car is 50 years old, I cannot guarantee that the odometer reading is correct. The car is located in Vancouver BC, has British Columbia title and BC collector plates. It passed AirCare in 2004, at the time I registered it for collector plates. The title is clear, free of any liens or other encumbrances and is ready to be transferred to you. Please don’t ask what the reserve is. I welcome any other questions and would be happy to send extra photos if needed. Payment. Winning bidder to submit a $1000 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction ending. Remainder within 5 calendar days of auction close via wire transfer only. Title will be transferred only when bank verifies funds. No bidders with less than 5 feedbacks or 99% positive. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping, brokerage, duties, etc. On Jul-01-10 at 13:37:04 PDT, seller added the following information: ( I have had a number of questions about importing the Multipla into various foreign countries. I am sorry, I cannot help with this and I am not familiar with the vehicle importation rules for your country. A search on the internet would no doubt yield some information. For people who live in the US, you may find some information at the NHTSA website, http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/ )
