You’ve heard it before…an old-school, pre-1980’s Land Cruiser could go anywhere. An old “FJ” could bust through the gnarliest off road trails and brush without breaking a sweat…tackle the tightest, twistiest, toughest two-track…and climb, well, darn near anything. Well, it’s all true, and this 1974 FJ has been-there-done-that, seen it all, and lived to tell the tale!

You’re looking at a very nice 1974 Land Cruiser that could serve as the perfect platform for a frame-off restoration project, or simply give it a good mechanical check up, slap on some new tires and use it as an everyday driver just the way it sets. Per the previous owner, this FJ has spent the better part of the last 15 years tucked safely away in a barn.

The 1974 model was the first year for the 4-speed manual transmission, and this one shifts great. The engine runs good, but could benefit greatly from a tune-up, new plug wires, clutch, etc.

Originally an Arizona car, the body on this FJ is pretty tight. The windshield frame – usually the first thing to rot out - side doors and rear doors are rock solid, as are the front fenders and hood. There is evidence of an amateurish attempt to fill holes under both front doors – they apparently used toothpaste in place of bondo! - but that can be easily remedied. The same idiot that attempted the body repair also drilled a hole in the roof to mount the super-cool spotlight that no longer works, but again, not a deal breaker, right?

The rear doors and spare tire carrier latch work flawlessly, and all the glass is in great shape. There is a small “biff” in the left rear, right at the “Toyota” emblem, but again, easily repairable. The rear jump seats are missing, but there is a factory rear heater. The front doors are in great shape, but the seals are shot. The frame is rock solid!
