Vehicle Detail

I reserve the right to sell locally for best offer. My apologies for this change. Please make best offer if you are seriously interested. WOW! This beautiful red sports car offers the classy lines of the English Car but without the mechanical and electrical flaws of the original. Less than 3,000 Km on complete Fiberfab kit including custom tubular steel chasis (SN TD00685) by Cargem (Houghton Lake, MI) and remanufactured engine (SN 5D64956),and also suspension and drivetrain from Cargem. Twice the power of the original vehicle! Photos added showing convertible top, storage cover, and tonneau cover; all like new. A very similar car built on a Volkswagon chassis with >20K miles just sold on ebay in the northeast for $8,500!! Under the "skin" this is twice the car!! and only 2K miles! All original paperwork, including bills documenting more than $14,000 in parts. It took eighteen years and several owners to complete the build which was first registered in 2006. Ultimate completion due to custom wiring harness system built and installed by an aircraft mechanic. Don't compare this to this wimpy rear engined builds on a Volkswagon frame. You are getting a virtually brand new vehicle with less than 2,000 miles on it. Almost every mechanical component in the engine, drivetrain, steering, and suspension, is stock 75-77 Pinto/Mustang II; parts available from any local carparts store. Four speed ford manual transmission The custom tubular chassis provides room for a front mounted 2300 cc (140 cubic inch) in-line four cylinder engine with overhead cam. This chassis design also makes room for rack and pinion steering, and independent coil suspension. Brakes are disc on front and drums on rear. 195-75 14" tires on steel wheels with chrome hub caps. This deluxe kit includes amber fog lamps, convertible top in like new condition, mahagony steering wheel and dash with repro gages. Black vinyl seats and black custom carpeted floor. Spare tire is new and unused and has a vinyl cover to protect it from the sun. The red exterior is gelcoat, not just paint. Only two modifications to the "kit"; it has a performance muffler and a 400 cfm Holley 2-barrel carburetor. Don't settle for the VW version - this chassis is far more rigid (better handling) and more powerful (who doesn 't want that?). Located in North Granby, CT This car runs great - but I've retired and the wife wants something "bigger". This is a car for someone who wants a real sensation of speed. Insurance is dirt cheap - comp including collision is less than $200 per year through Haggerty's. State of CT lists car as "COMP" or composite. It is exempt from any future emissions testing. If questions, call Jim @ 860-966-2394 Terms: Paypal deposit of $500.00 required within 48 hours of auction closing. Balance due in cash. Personal checks not accepted. Bank check only if buyer accompanies seller to local bank and successfully "clears". Auction is for local pickup. If Shipping is necessary, all obligations for freight logistics and payment are the responsibility of the buyer. Now for the rules and disclaimers: I have driven this car for two summers on trips of two hours or less. To my knowledge, the car has no mechanical defects other than the original oil gage does not work and an additional oil gage has been installed at steering column. Also, common to this car, the fuel gage shows half a tank when its empty - gage marked so you won't be fooled. Based on the documentation, I wouldn't expect you to find any defects not mentioned here. I have never "pushed" the car but it has plenty of power if you were so inclined. You should drive the car and/or take it to a mechanic if you have any questions regarding the mechanical condition. Like the early Corvettes, the fiberglass is not quite perfect. There is a faint blush on the gelcoat, which I suspect can be easily buffed off by someone who knows how to treat gelcoat. There are several small areas on the hood which show crazing (if you look real close); can't see them from 2-3 feet away. The passenger door rubs on the bottom for about two inches, and shows slight wear. There is a silver dollar sized repair on the running board which looks as though someone applied paint over the gelcoat. There is some very minor scratches on the running boards; again, a little polish should resolve most of this. None of these items are apparent when you step away from the car. The chrome is very good; some polish needed, and the backsides of the bumpers (if you look) show some rust, but not on the exterior surfaces. If you have any questions - give me a call now - lets avoid any last minute concerns. I can send specific photos if you wish - just let me know.
