This A VERY Special car for the owner& family that really likes to have fun. The car brings more compliments and starts more conversations than any I’ve owned before. It universally brings smiles and thumbs from young and old. Outstanding car for a trip across country or a drive to the office. Its appearance is striking and a great daily driver or one that you can bring to the local car shows, club events, and rallys. I invite all bidders to drive it and welcome inspections. There was never a better time to buy a Vintage Saab. Saab is at this moment working with BMW to bring out a Retro Model that looks very similar. When the Mini's were reintroduced the original cars prices doubled and tripled. The last three restored Model 96's that sold on e-bay were almost double the price of the same quality car a few years ago. So this a great opportunity to reward yourself in many way's. The Perfect Vintage Car for the person who doesn’t have the time or experience to do a mechanical restoration. I’ve owned over 20 Model 95’s and 96’s and know the area’s that require extra attention and have the contacts to do a world class job. The motor builder recently raced his Model 96 in the NORRA Baja 1000. First you can drive it anywhere today, tomorrow and next year. This is not a car that has sat for years. Its driven weekly and makes a great daily driver or one that you can bring to the local track events, club events, and rallys. This obviously is not a race car, but it was rebuilt for increased performance with drivability. The engine has a fresh rebuild including hardened seats for the valves,Weber 32/36 synchronius carburetor, ported heads and big valves for better breathing, new forged pistons upgraded timing gears, new oil & water pump hoses & rubber with new engine and Jack Ashcraft transmission mounts. During the long block rebuild process the flywheel was lightened and clutch/flywheel replaced with upgraded parts for longer life and smoother shifting. Skandix performance exhaust was added for the better mileage as well as the sporty exhaust note The alternator was upgraded to a modern higher output 90 amp unit to handle the increased demand when using the driving lights. The lights were wired to their own 20 amp relay/fuse junction. It also has an electric fuel pump as well as a Petronix Electronic Ignition, so no need for points or worries about failure or adjustment any more.The list goes on. The car is RUST & Accident free Among the many rare NOS parts there is a new dash pad that comes with the car to help you complete the finishing touch. Twin air horns were added to alert that pesky Mini driver he is being passed :-). In short the mechanics were engineered for increased power, performance and safety. Difficult to find parts of the restoration included new carpets new door, window and cowling seals, rear mud flaps as well as N.O.S. badges for the grill and elephant ears. The list goes on and on. From a mechanical standpoint the car needs nothing with the exception of a windshield washer fluid tank Body is very nice, there are a few chips that have been touched up, but you have to start looking close to see anything. The body is very straight, and clean with NO RUST. Look at all the seams, look great, and panels seem to be in good shape and in proper alignment Paint is very shiny, and in great shape. All the weather stripping has been replaced, and is in decent shape. Interior was recarpeted. Original drivers seat is in very good condition, webbing and foam replaced. There is currently a Recaro seat installed as they are the most comfortable seats made Pulled the carpets out so you could see the floors, and they are very clean. Under the rear seat is very nice, truck floor and rear shock towers are in very good shape with new KYB's all around. . The tires are new Nokian NRWs and the correct hub caps are included but personally I do not use them. Over all the body on this car is in very nice shape. Floors look to be in great shape there are no major floor repairs made everything looks original. Interior is in very good shape. Seats are in great shape, no tears or wear. The carpet is excellent and in great shape. Headliner is very nice, no tears, and it is very clean. All the interior lights work. All gauges work, the heater works excellent. The radio is not hooked up currently View all the pictures of the interior, it has great interior. Al the glass is in excellent shape, and all the windows roll up and down nicely as well. All the external lights are in great shape. Body is very nice, and in excellent shape. There are a few chips that have been touched up, but you have to start looking close to see anything. Parts when needed are readily available and catalogues from West of Sweden, Motor Sports Services and Jack Ashcraft will be thrown for the winner as well as a year’s membership with the Vintage Saab Club of North America. Their 1964 cars were the earlier versions with narrow grilles, but starting in 1965 they ran the cars with wider grilles as on the car featured here.
