Vehicle Detail
This is a 1983 full-size Blazer, powered by GM's normally-aspirated 6.2L Diesel engine. The truck certainly isn't in new condition, but it gets the job done! I have owned this truck for seven years. I first bought it as an inexpensive, weekend utility truck and never expected that I would keep it as long as I did. Mechanically, it's in pretty good shape--I've done everything necessary to keep it running well. I really didn't care about the cosmetics of the vehicle, so I never really bothered to fix those items. Maintenance High Points • Regular Oil Changes • ATF Changed in 2008 • Transfer Case(s) Oil Change 2007 • New Radiator, Water Pump in 2005 • New Back-End 2007 • Rancho Adjustable Shocks installed 2006 • New Body/Frame Bushings 2010 • Brakes Replaced 2010 • Windshield Wipers replaced 2010 • Tires only have 10,000 miles on them • Fuel Pump replaced 2006 • New Batteries 2008 • 3" Suspension Lift What Works Power Windows Left Side Power Lock Up/Down Switch Heater Headlights / Running Lights / Brake Lights / License Plate Light Trailer Light Connector Speedo / Fuel Gauge / Volt-meter / Oil Pressure Sensor Windshield Wipers What Doesn't Work/Problem Areas Horn Eng. Temperature Sensor (I use an infrared thermometer to check eng. temp.) Interior Lights Right Side Power Lock (only opens, doesn't close all locks) Right Side Fly Window is missing interior handle/lock Windshield Washers Power Fluid System has a slow leak somewhere (but doesn't affect operation) General Condition: Again, the vehicle is in good mechanical condition--I am using it as a daily driver. It's big, but it gets me over the hill. I also use it to go camping and to get through the snow during the winter season. The "issues" are mainly cosmetic: the previous owner was going to use it as a project car and turn it into a rock crawler--he got as far as tearing out the rug under the drivers seat and using his sawsall to cut away the passenger-side fender on the rear of the wheel well to make room for larger tires that never got intstalled. That body panel also has some damage. The interior has seen a lot of use (look at photos) but at least the upholstery on all the seats is in very good condition. I don't know how I got so lucky... The rear passenger seat will fit two adults comfortably and all the seatbelts work. I effectively permanently attached it to the vehicle using eyebolts and aircraft nuts on the underside, as the previous attachment bolts were stripped. I also attached four other eyebolts in the bed to use for tie-downs. I attached the side steps as well. The Diesel If you are still reading, it's probably because of the engine. This has been a very dependable engine for me, the only problem being the fuel pump which was replaced in 2006. I get about 12-13 mpg. I have a friend that is into veggie oil conversions who was interested in this truck in a big way...but he lives waaaay off the grid and now that I'm ready to sell it, I can't contact him. Pat, if you read this--call me! Since it is a pre-1998 diesel, it does not have to be smogged here in California. Also, since the DMV has it registered as a diesel, some enterprising mechanic could drop a 454 in it and....? Final Thoughts I'm selling it because we have our 1st baby on the way and I was driving two cars--a mini and this. I need to streamline my life so I'm getting rid of both of these vehicles to switch to something more sensible. If you're looking for a really useful utility truck that makes you feel like you're the king of the road--this truck is for you! If you're looking for something that looks and feels new, keep looking. The truck is located in Culver City, CA--so contact me if you'd like to look at it in person or take a test drive. Contact me over email with any questions you might have. I'll take cash or PayPal as a form of payment. I'll also accept bullion coin and those little "pamp suisse" ingots--if you been stockpiling, now is the time to make the most of peaking market! I also added the mileage for some of them: remember, "84,000" might be 84K or 184K. The "C" in the middle might be a "G" so try that one. The plate is rusty so it's hard to tell.On Jun-23-10 at 09:35:01 PDT, seller added the following information:UPDATED "things that don't work" : the steering column gear position indicator doesn't show you what gear you're in--I do it by feel & the drivers side exterior lock can be sticky and hard to open. In about 1 out of every 9 unlockings, I have to jiggle and massage the key to open the lock. I usually avoid this altogether by not locking the door!On Jun-26-10 at 08:56:35 PDT, seller added the following information:Hi All--I lowered my reserve price, good luck bidders!
