DESCRIPTION:
Our 1997 BMW 528i looks good outside and looks even better inside. The engine runs very good and the car drives good too. The interior is luxurious and could look like new with a little detailing, leather dye work and a couple new plastic pieces like a cupholder and a new rear seat A/C vent cover. In spite of those minor difficiencies, the interior is pretty nice. The seats are firm and supportive. The front seats are heated and power adjustable. The front seat leather has a few minor scrapes and/or scratches. The rear seats have some more prominent scratches in the leather, but a good leather dye job can fix all those issues. The wood trim looks nice except for a few minor cracks in the clearcoat around the shifter and on the passenger's front door panel. The vanity mirrors are lighted and work great. The overhead console has map lights, but the driver's side light doesn't work. The only other interior issue is that the driver's side heated seat switch is installed upside down. It still works though. The stereo works great and sounds awesome. The rest of the interior is nice.
Outside, our Beamer looks good from a short distance, but does have a few cosmetic issues. The paint looks pretty good and could look even better with a good buffing and some touch-up paint. The body is straight except for a few tiny dings and small, shallow dents on the side panels here and there. In fact, the only areas on the exterior that don't look so good are the hood, front bumper and sunroof. The hood has multiple chips in the pant and most of the chips have surface rust. The hood also has some long scratches on top and a couple tiny dings on the front edge. The front bumper has obviously been slightly bumped and caused the trim to get bent and break some clips that hold it in. The bumper also has several tiny chips and dings. The sunroof has been repainted at some point and doesn't match the rest of the roof due to some paint fade. Most of the body panels have a tiny chip or scratch in the paint and a few have tiny dings, but overall the exterior looks decent and could look real nice with a little time and effort.
Mechanically, our 528i runs and drives nicely. The tires are like new all around, but a little noisy. The engine starts easily and runs smooth. It did run rough the first time I started it, but it had been sitting for a while prior to that. Now it runs smoothly everytime it's started and goes down the road with ease. However, our BMW does have a few issues that are preventing it from passing State Inspection and some items that are inspection related, but do need fixing. The inspection items that need replacing or repair are a bad catalytic converter and bad rear upper spindle links (the car will need an alignment once these are replaced). Other items are: an O2 sensor needs replacing and the starter is intermittently inoperable and needs replacing. The check engine light is on (probably because of the O2 sensor), but we haven't diagnosed why. The engine runs great so whatever it is that is causing the check engine light to come on is relatively minor since it isn't affecting driveability. Other than those items, this car is mechanically sound. If you can do the work yourself, the only expensive part is the catalytic converter, but you could even find a cheap used or aftermarket part and save a bunch. We can do all the repair work for the winning bidder, but the cost will have to be paid in advance.
Electronically, most everything works great! In fact, the only problem I observed was the inoperable driver's map light, which is probably only a bad bulb. Otherwise, this car is in great condition electronically.
So, with some work and money our BMW 528i will pass State Inspection and be a great and luxurious daily driver. Bid now and bid often to win this "NO RESERVE" BMW for your very own!
