Ok, here is what I was told by the owner when I bought it back in 2008: The gentleman I bought it from had been given the Jeep to him by his grandmother in 2000. It was his grandfathers truck from new and had been parked in a barn since about 1983. He took it home, did some TLC work and had a quick paint job put on it and drove it for about a year. Parked it when he went into military. In 2006/2007 he returned home and started the restoration work with all of the work listed below: ALL NEW: Radiator, full tune up, new brake and fuel lines, new fuel pump and water pump, fuel filter, some new exhaust, all new leaf spring packs, rear axles rebuilt, transfer case seals redone, rebuilt transmission (hydramatic GM transmission from factory), wheel cylinders, calipers, distributor, sandblasted frame and painted entire underneath, all new diamond plate steel bed floor and crossmembers/frame mounts, bushings, etc........other miscellaneous stuff. All with under 5,000 miles on them. Super clean and dry underneath and under the hood......appears as original and unmollested. All glass is good, solid floor pans and body mounts, no rust underneath on frame or spring hangers like most jeeps, solid tailgate, solid door jambs and sill plates, etc....... He then drove it daily for about a year. Early in 2008 he put new tires on it and did some little bodywork on exterior rust and that is how I bought it in late 2008. I drove it for about 3 weeks and parked it in my garage to restore/finish and never got to it......now, I am selling as I bought it.....needs some finishing exterior/interior work and has been sitting/parked/off the road since 2008. Thought of keeping for a hunting camp truck but this one has way to much potential and is to rare of a find to do that to it! Lots of time and money invested in the restoration start up and needs minor work to finish........great truck to finish! Above is all of the good stuff, now here is the work needed to finish: The rockers have been patched/worked and are starting to show through again and need redone. Cab corners have some rust through. One tiny hole above passengers side windshield. Some little holes and bodywork showing on bed sides and wheel well edges here and there.....exterior bed sides have bondo at seams/body lines. Two tiny rust holes on one rear inner wheel well inside bed. Paint is chipping....bad at spots, especially on hood. Interior has ripped seats and no carpeting. Park gear does not always hold but emergency brakes does work and hold.....park linkage needs adjusted from underneath. Oil pressure guage is not accurate and gas guage does not always work. A/C all there and seems to be good but blows warm. Drivers door window does not work....bad track. Oil pressure was tested by a local shop last week and idles at about 35-40 pounds and revs up with 60-70 pounds.....great oil pressure even when hot. Coolant/temperature holds great. Charging system works great. All cylinders have had compression tests and all run with excellent compression. MILEAGE: Told to me to be ORIGINAL miles and the engine does reflect that as it has most of the original paint from the factory still in tact.....not all burned off. Too old to verify through Autocheck and my DMV shows it as never turning 100k miles but is marked on title as "miles exempt" due to age.....our DMV does not record mileage when a vehicle is over 10 years old. You are buying as miles exempt. I put a new battery in it this week, had fuel system drained and filled up with new fuel and drove it for a few days.....runs and drives/works great!! NO engine noises or smoke, idles smooth and quiet and revs up strong!! Transmission works great and shifts properly. Quadratrac 4x4 system works great and climbs anything, especially in the low range! Handles down the road great and has good power and good kick down. Smooth runner and nice driver!Excellent driveline, running gear, 4x4, tires, etc........just needs cosmetic work to be awesome again or just use as it is for an awesome daily driver!! Still looks great from 20 feet and is not a junker by any means.....just showing some age from sitting but lots of life and has huge potential for the right buyer!! Looks very, very presentable, solid in all the right spots and looks good overall. VERY Rare truck in overall decent shape and runs/works great with thousands of dollars in recent work and new parts!
