Vehicle Detail

Hi, up for auction is something you sure don't see everyday!! This is a original San Francisco, California bought 1946 Chevrolet COE (Cab Over Engine) black plate California truck. Purchased brand new in 1946 from Ellis Brooks Chevrolet in San Francisco, California. This COE is a driver and I drive it around town and to a Wednesday night car show and few towns away ever week. It runs great and drives...well, like a COE. The truck has got to be the biggest attention getter I have ever owned, it is common to have people hanging out of cars snapping off pictures and video with their phones. The COE was bought brand new at the Chevy dealership in 1946 by Earl LeDeit, from the dealership it went directly to MacDonald Truck Manufacturing who was in business from 1945 thru the 1980's, they built 1000's upon 1000's of truck beds over the years, please note the original MacDonald truck bed plate, it is serial number 149, being the 149th bed ever built by MacDonald where Earl had the truck bed fabricated to transport glass, from there it went to the paint shop where it was sprayed...yep brand new truck repainted bright red, and then from there went and got logo'd. The logo's read "Ledeit Bros Complete Glass Service, 301 W. Santa Clara St. Phone CY 4-4576" The glass company is still in business today and I've the pleasure reminiscing about the old Cab Over with the guys in the shop. I am the third owner. The family sold Grandpa's Glass Truck in 2005 to a friend of the family who only used it to drive in local parades and tow a water tank at a local race track wetting down the track. This is a cool truck, with a cool history. The truck has lots of storage underneath the bed, has a stout receiver hitch, great tires, new Flow Master muffler, trusty 235 cubic inch inline 6. Brakes stop the truck well, however it's eventually going to need a new master cylinder. All the chrome and stainless is in amazing condition, this truck has never been in a accident, all body panels are original and doors close perfect. Interior is original paint which is called Boatswain Blue. Seat of course is not original. Please ask any and all questions you may have and I will be happy to answer them. The COE is still located in the San Francisco baya area and I would be happy to show you the truck in person. I have taken about a 100 pictures of the truck, so if there is a particular picture you would like to see, please ask. I will also have video of the truck from inside the cab on a ride to exterior video of driveby's. Please feel free to give me a call direct at (650)400-8836 or email me. Thanks for the interest, good luck on the auction and happy bidding!!
