Vehicle Detail
I am listing this car for a friend, and all of the information listed in this ad is all I know about the car. If you have any questions, please call Dan Duran. His cell # is 317-445-4221 His e-mail address is boneman911@aol.com Thanks... This 1970 Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 is one very nice automobile. You can take a magnet to the body of this car, and it will hold with no problem. I could not find any evidence of rust repair on any of the body panels. The undercarriage also looks very good, and again I did not find any evidence of rust repair. The car has 65,758 original miles. The milage 9/29/83 was 42,000. This car has been serviced for many years at Autohaus Dierolf in Indianapolis, In. The most recent service work was performed on 3/15/10 with the installation of Self-Leveling Unit Bellows, Front Left/Right. The milage at that time was 65,422. Receipts are available. Dan feels you can get into this car and enjoy driving it the day you purchase the vehicle. He has driven the car since March 15th. over 300 miles. This car is a pleasure to drive with the 6.3 300 H/P engine. There were 642 of these cars built in 1970 for the US market, with a price tag of over $15,000. That was a lot of money in 1970. Road & Track stated the SEL 6.3 was Merely the greatest sedan in the world. I have listed a great many photos for you to look at. I made comments on some of the photos, and please remember to ask any and all questions before you place a bid. The chrome on this vehicle looks good. I feel you need to do nothing, as it looks good as it is. Keep in mind it is not show quality, but you will not be embarrassed in front of your friends. The sides are quite straight. All of the lights work as they should. The Mercedes Tobacco color paint has a very good shine, but does have some rock chips, and a few scratches. The glass looks to be original, and I did not find any cracks. There is one rock chip in the windshield low on the drivers side. It does not hinder you sight for driving. The radio works, and so does the power antenna. The four handels are in this condition, showing some age. The tires have 65 to 70% tread life left. Take a good look at the Cognac color leather interior of this car. There are no rips, tears or burn holes. You will be pleased with this cars leather. The headliner is also in fine condition. The underside of all four doors is rust free. Please notice the control levers of the heat and a/c. The small round tabs that you hold, and move from left to right , ARE NOT BROKEN. The entire piece is a round disc with a small tab to hold. It is made of plastic. If the little tab is broken, it becomes difficult to move from side to side. The replacement item is not very expensive, but the labor to install it is crazy. The dash has to be removed in order to install the nes ones. The ones on this car move with ease. Keep that information in mind when looking at any Mercedes of the 70's with this control unit. The dash is in very nice condition with the exception of the crack pictured. The carpet is all in good condition, with the exception of the foot pad shown in the photo. The back window shelf does have some staining. Now for the photos of the dreaded undercarriage. The area most people don't want to talk about. I tried to check this area as well as I could to find evidence of rust repair. I could not find any rust repair. You will see some general surface rust, but that is nothing to be alarmed about. I was looking for patched floors, or badly rusted frames. On Jun-07-10 at 08:17:55 PDT, seller added the following information: ..... CORRECTION.....CORRECTION.....CORRECTION.... I HAVE STATED THE COLOR OF THE LEATHER INTERIOR AS COGNAC. THE COLOR COGNAC WOULD BE MORE OF A BURGANDY COLOR . THIS INTERIOR IS MORE OF A MEDIUM TOBACCO COLOR. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.
