Vehicle Detail
If you ever wanted a Pretty & Pristine White Mercedes with the Palomino Interior, from California with no worries of rust, this may be the car for you. I’m listing this nice little car for a good friend of ours who doesn’t know how to use a computer. If my wife and I hadn’t already made a decision to go on a one year mission trip out of the country, this little jewel would have been to nice to let get away. He left it here for me to drive this past month and it’s a joy to ride and drive in. Nostalgic is the best word that comes to mind. It’s a simple clean little 4 cylinder Diesel Engine with a manual transmission. Look at the pictures of the engine compartment and wonder why our cars today couldn’t be so beautiful and get 35 mpg. The German’s did it 25 years ago. As you slip behind the steering wheel into the drivers seat, the seat is so comfortable (it was recently rebuilt and re upholstered). You look out over a dashboard that is in really good condition with wood trim still in nice condition. All the upholstery in the car is nice and clean with no stains, rips, spots or sagging, so often seen in these older cars. The carpet in clean and nice, the headliner is perfect. All The Power Windows and door looks work properly. The sun roof opens and closes electrically, at the push of a button. The radio is simple with large dials and has the look, feel and sound of yesteryear. The Mercedes all have that vault like feel when closing the doors and just make you feel safe when driving along. We live out near Grand Lake and this is a fun car to bug around in and explore this beautiful part of the country (after the winter is over). If I have done the math properly, the car is now 27 years old, and is in Great Condition! ..... . Most cars from Detroit have long ago been recycled and are now serving a soda pop cans and milk containers. The things you will notice first is that the steering is no longer tight. These little 240D where never the quietist of cars to ride in and this one is no exception. If you’ve owned them in the past you know what I mean; now I love them and enjoy driving them and find the whole experience delightful. Parts are readily available, new steering boxes and every thing you would ever need can easily be found for these cars. This car light bulb has gone out behind the instrument panel (I recently discovered after running to town the past evening for bread and sandwich making supplies). The air-conditioning needs work, probably a new compressor. Napa and O’Riely’s Auto Parts, both sell a kit that replaces the compressor, dryer and condenser for $299; if I were going to use the car all summer I would have this replaced. Other than that, I don’t know of anything the car needs. The oil and filters have all recently been changed. Before driving the car from California, a new Alternator was installed. The car drove beautifully, sixteen hundred miles, from Los Angeles to Grand Lake last winter. This car has a Clear California Title and still has the Prestigious Gregg Motors of Beverly Hills, License Plate Frames attached as well as a California license plate. The car was purchased last year in California from a pastor who stated that he’d purchased the car from a Mercedes Benz mechanic that had owned it for the past 14 years. He sold the car as part of a fund raising effort associated with mission work in his church. I think the car would be a joy to own and a pleasure to drive for many years. The car will be sold as-is, where is. It is located apx 60 miles from the Tulsa Airport. We would be happy to pick up anyone flying in to drive the car home. We could also help make arrangements for a local fellow that delivers cars, farm equipment and what-all at a cost of $1.00 a mile. The cost of delivery would of coarse be the responsibility of the buyer. Other car carries charge from $350-$700 depending on distance if you were to go all the way to either coast. While driving the car today, I noticed the odometer start and stop. The speedometer works fine, so I’d never noticed this before. Under these conditions I would have to say that the true miles are unknown, while the odometer shows 280,465 today. Last year I had the odometer head rebuilt in my wife’s Mercedes diesel and the cost was apx $125. Faye and I have been buying and selling and having fun with e-bay for almost 10 Years. We've made every effort to insure that we describe things carefully and want you to be completely satisfied with our transaction. We have a 100% satisfaction rating. Most People are Wonderful and Fun to Work With and we plan to be the same way. Please bid only if you intend to purchase the item at the end of the auction as re-listing is both expensive and time consuming.
