Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a beautiful red 1970 MGB. 1970 was the only year that MG produced the highly desirable split rear chrome bumper. I have put thousands of dollars in labor and parts into this old girl, and need to sell her due to the current economic conditions. The wheels are the 72 spoke performance chrome spoke wheels, with brand new knock offs. I also had the spare tire installed with the 72 spoke wheel with its own new chrome knock off. The rims and shells are polished in a special purpose machine, then hand-polished. To enhance the corrosion resistance, microporis nickle plating was done prior to the chrome plating. The spokes and nipples are chrome plated stainless steel for brightness and long life. The all wire wheel nipples are silicone sealed at the rim to keep water out, a common complaint on lesser quality wheels. A brand new knockoff hammer and protective multi-ply wooden wrench is included. The underbody and wheel wells have been rust proofed, which is why it is so difficult to get good photos of the underneath of the car. The steering wheel is new and is a Tourist Trophy wood model complete with the wheel adapter kit. The paint is in excellent condition and is very clean without any mudding. The engine and bay have been completely detailed with the engine also being detailed with the correct era color. When the engine was in the rebuild stage I discovered that it was bored 40 over and gave into the temptation of installing an alloy cross-flow cylinder head in order to the B performance and cooling improvements. An allow valve cover was installed and detailed. Also installed is a Weber DCOE manifold kit and two dual 45DCOE carbs, with ram pipes and mesh performance filters, which translated into an immediate increase in power. The Weber DCOE conversion included the stainless steel heatshield which bolts to the bottom of the carbs and acts as a both a heat reflector and heat sink for the float chamber, they are very helpful in preventing vapor lock. Also installed was an uprated performance tappet set with lightweight tubular pushrods. Also installed is a stainless steel sport exhaust made by Tourist Trophy, which is mandrel bent for a perfect fit and constructed of polished stainless steel for a long life. The 3 into 1 tubular header reduces back pressure improved the exhaust flow for increased efficiency. A 13 row oil cooler kit was installed with heavy duty cooler lines installed by a company specializing in heavy equipment hydraulic lines. All the syncros in the 4 speed transmission work as they should and all seals have been replaced. It also has an electric overdrive which make highway driving more pleasurable. The clutch has been replaced with a new clutch kit and the cylinders have been rebuilt. The gas tank is brand new, along with a new sending unit. A Spax gas pressurized rear conversion kit was installed to help keep a softer ride quality and handling, while improving rear axle location when cornering on bumpy surfaces. The Spax shocks have a screwdriver slot aduster which can be accessed with the shocks installed, which also allows damping for any upgrading of springs and sway bars in the future. For fun I added a 4 horn train air horn which is powered by a tank and compressor located in the trunk. The compressor will also allow you to fill tires when out on the road. Cross-drilled & slotted rotors were installed on the front wheels, the cross-drilled holes lower the brake temperatures while reducing rotational mass and increasing out-gassing, while the slots allow excess water, dirt and dust to dissipate. Not that this car needed this feature in that my car has never been in the rain and has always been stored indoors. The calipers look as special as the rest of the car as they have painted in red with the numbers detailed in yellow, giving them a high gloss luster look of the higher end sports car. The chrome is original and still new looking along with a chrome luggage rack. A tripod headlamp set which features an internal tripod reflector with a round center cap which gives the car a more vintage look. A chrome badge and lamp bar made by Tourist Trophy was installed along with two Lucas 500 series fog and driving lamps. An engine boost gage is installed on the steering column; a new oil pump with a new pressure valve and spring. An inline fuel rail gage is installed to help with the carb tuning. Lastly, a new $1900 Clarion stereo is installed complete with a navigation system that has a motorized flip out 7" screen, a dvd and cd player. I know that I have probably missed some of the other upgrades on the car. Test drivess and inspections are welcomed. I will do my best to answer any questions my may have.
