I can almost promice that you will not find another unrestored original Rabbit convertable this nice EVER! Yup, that's right, 72,258 original miles! I own a family run automotive repair shop and this came in last year with a bad fuel pump. After repairs were made the owner suddenly had a financial hardship and could not pay for repairs so I bought it thinking it would be cool to drive in the summer. However, I have two classic cars already and the Rabbit is taking up valuable space in my shop so I've decided to sell it. I have not registered it except to transfer title into my name, so the title is now free to be signed over to the new owner. The Rabbit has the original top and it's in great condition, the glass is all original, even the windshield is the genuine original VW windshield! Upon inspection I notice that the rear struts are new, as is the exhaust system from the cat back, it is like factory. The former owner said he had just had the timing belt done so that should be ok. I notice that sometime in the past the car has been repainted either partialy or in whole, I can't tell, either way the paint is very nice. I do not see any rust, the car looks to be from a non-rust state, you be the judge. The engine runs great and does not smoke, even after sitting for the last 9 months. The only thing I know that does not work is the heater controls. Someone installed a am/fm CD deck and must have messed something up as the lever doesn't operate the heater, therefore I cannot tell if the a/c works, but the compressor does turn over freely. The tires have good tread, but are very old so it's up to you how safe you think they are to be driven on. The interior is near mint, I notice a slight wear mark on the drivers seat and a very small tear on the very back of the rear seat on the back side, and easy repair. The carpets are near mint in my opinion, the dask looks like it may have a cap on it, not sure. So there you have it, a rare example of a much simpler time. I will NOT accept trades (maybe for a Jeep Wrangler if local) I will NOT accept money from outside the country and I know about every scam out there so don't even try, you won't like it when I find you! Seriously, I'd like to keep this a cash deal, if you really want the car and you live in another state, I suggest flying out to see it and evaluate it for yourself. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have. Remember people, this is a used older vehicle, what looks great to me may not look as such to you. I highly recommend seeing it before purchase as once you won the auction you own it, perceived flaws and all, not that it has many. On May-19-10 at 07:01:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I lowered the buy it now to $3000, also I'm going to advertise the Rabbit localy so bid now or this classic will be gone and you will have missed out. If the car does not sell this second listing, it will NOT be listed a third time.
