Vehicle Detail

This 1967 Mk II 3.8 was originally imported to Australia from Great Britain, and as the second owner I brought the vehicle to the US in 1993. It has always been garaged since I purchased it in 1988. The original old English white paint had a complete professional repaint in 1994, a new stainless steel exhaust system, new fuel pump and SU's completely overhauled. The woodwork has been professionally refinished by a master craftsman to a state of the art condition and is a work of art !. The cream mohair headliner has been replaced and new wool carpets and boot mat replaced. The red leather seats need work, but otherwise the interior is very good. The chrome is in remarkable condition. The car has an almost complete original tool kit and a complete overhaul manual and many of the original documents. The electrical system is in very good condition (with the exception that the heater fan does not always work- since the car does not go out in cold weather it is not a problem ) the gear box is a Borg Warner 35. An option on the car is the lockable steering column. "Grace, pace and space" was the Jaguar slogan in the 1960's and no model epitomized this more than the mid-sized Mk II sedan, which was affordable, elegant and quick. In it's ultimate form as the Mk II 3.8, it was termed the "gentleman's express" and the car of choice of British bank robbers desiring a very fast getaway. The Mk II had two major performance improvements over the Mk I. The Jaguar DOHC engine made the car the fastest four door production sedan with 220 horsepower on tap 120 mph was easy to achieve. Four wheel disc brakes had proven their worth on the D-types and Jaguar was so proud of this feature on the Mk II that a red caution triangle with the words ' Disc Brakes' was incorporated into the rear bumper trim. The interior was as Jaguar-luxurious as ever, and even the smallest details were attended to. The Mk II 3.8 quickly established its reputation as the sports saloon car manufacturer that all others tried to beat ! The 3.8 engine provided manufacturer performance of 220 bhp, 125 mph (0-60) in 8.5 seconds !
