Vehicle Detail

For Sale - A one-of-a-kind 1965 AMC Rambler American 220 Wagon - 108,250 miles. Original 232 I-6 motor. I am the 3rd owner of this fine machine, maybe you will be the proud 4th in its 45-year SoCal history. The previous owner found the car in its native San Diego and invested $7,000 and lots of TLC in its restoration. It is in excellent condition, starts, runs and drives great. Restore is not mint or showroom quality. Top of the list were work on the 3-speed automatic trans, minor body prep and new paint to match the 1965 original color - Seaside Aqua. Other work done includes tires, brakes, water pump, fuel pump, ignition, radiator, carpet, custom seat covers, straight-through exhaust and tastefully tinted rear windows. Original (optional) seat belts in front, aftermarket in rear. Yes, the front seats recline with rest brackets to form sleeping area. Rear window with hand crank - tail gate folds down via interior latch handle. Original spare stowed in back under floor. Original manual and all kinds of other original docs and all maintenance docs come with the car, as well as a scrapbook showing before and after the restore. The paint job has a few nicks as seen in photos, and the left rear "American" emblem has a broken piece off the "A". Car comes with the replacement emblem as well exact match touch-up paint. Original CA black plates and even the original license plate frames from the dealer back in 1965. This car has been get-in-and-go for me for the past year. No issues other than: a steering gearbox oil leak up front (easy to top off). Gas gauge and radio do not work. Wipers are on and off - they are original vacuum operated system which may have a leak. Trans downshifts hard into 1st when coming to a stop. The trans has been thoroughly gone through however, and the best explanation is free play in the rear end. This trans allows starting in 2nd gear also. Plenty of torque and power on starts from 1st or 2nd - bottom line is the trans is tight, strong and a non-issue. This car is ready to be driven around town, entered into your local classic car shows and it will definitely turn a lot of heads. You will start a lot of conversations at red lights, gas pumps and stop signs. Lots of folks have great memories about their Ramblers in the past. This is your rare opportunity to continue to enjoy this classic car today! Car sold as is, no warranty. Clear title in my name. CA registration good until March 2011. Ask all questions before bidding. Cash or certified check only. I will not deliver the car, you pick it up. Good luck bidding! Additional photos can be seen here: http://munzter.com/rambler/ The car is available for pickup on or after Tuesday, May 25th, 2010.
