Vehicle Detail
For sale is a VFR 800 Interceptor with the ABS option that I purchased last August 2009 with only 7,385 miles. It now has approximately 10,400 miles. The reason I'm selling it is because my wife and I are expecting our first child. After discovering a broken fuel pressure regulator (which was causing rough running and poor gas mileage) and replacing it, the bike has run absolutely flawlessly with all the power it's supposed to have. Gas mileage now hovers around 42 MPG highway. It is truly a remarkable bike that is all day comfortable and offers excellent wind protection, yet is able to do more than I'm capable of doing through the curves. This was the first motorcycle I had purchased after riding my brother's motorcycles for almost 15 years. It's so powerful, yet seems have very manageable power to cater to all sorts of riders and skill levels. Reserve price is set very reasonably. The bike is in excellent condition. Mechanically: New rear brakes when I purchased (3,000 miles/9.5 months ago) - not sure of if/when the front brakes have been replaced New spark plugs at 9,049 miles (1,400 miles/5.5 months ago)New thermostat at 9,049 miles (1,400 miles/5.5 months ago)New coolant at 9,049 miles (1,400 miles/5.5 months ago)New brake fluid and new clutch fluid at 8,038 miles (2,400 miles/6 months ago)New fuel pressure regulator at 9,300 miles (1,100 miles/3.5 months ago)New oil and new air filter at 9,300 miles (1,100 miles/3.5 months ago)Tires were replaced just before I purchased the bike (approximately 3,000 miles/9.5 months ago). So there are no signs of dry rotting or cracking. Bridgestone Battlax BT-021 tires are fitted to the stock black wheels. approximately 2.5mm center tread depth on the rear tireapproximately 2mm center tread depth on the front tireAs you can tell, all scheduled maintenance up to date. Very few bikes that are being sold can say this. Many bikes will have brake fluid/clutch fluid/coolant that haven't been changed every 2 years as recommended in the VFR 800 service manual. This bike has all recommended maintenance complete. Cosmetically: The bike's paint is still in very good to excellent condition. It has been garaged kept while I've owned it. All panels are excellent with the exception of the right main fairing (the large one that covers the radiator and wraps around under the bike). The prior owner had his kids knock the bike over on his driveway which scratched that panel (can provide pictures I took if desired), scratched the bar end (picture attached), broke the mirror, and bent the foot brake lever. While the mirror and brake lever were replaced, the bar end wasn't nor was the panel fixed. I had the panel fixed in a low cost way in case I were to drop it (which I haven't), and as a result the color is a bit darker than it should be. I have tried to take pictures to show this, but it is tough to see. It actually looks like the panel is just at a different angle to the light and is therefore very hard to see. A new panel is $400 and a body shop could probably refinish for $250. I just haven't ever seen a reason to do this.As part of that tip-over on the driveway, the right crankcase cover (the black metal part behind the main fairing) was scratched. I had black paint applied to that and actually almost forgot to mention it in this listing. It is a very inconspicuous scratch now that that part is a consistent black color. You may not even notice it in the pictures. All other painted panels are nearly perfect considering the bike is ~8 years old. The bike is very shiny and nobody believes it when I tell them it is a 2002 model. I am extremely particular about my vehicles with paint being one of the things I'm most obsessive about. The paint is very nice. I have tried to get to every part I can to remove any old grease or dirt. I can't figure out how to clean the sprocket on the rear wheel, but I guess that's not that important to have clean. However the rear wheel doesn't have any of the annoying chain lube/grease on it that makes cleaning it impossible. I worked hard to remove all of that from the wheel so it looks shiny and clean. The motorcycle has a Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen in Light Smoke installed. I have the factory windscreen available as well. Also included is the factory rear seat cover. In addition to the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), a must have on a sport bike in my opinion, one of the nice features of the ABS model is a knob on below the rear seat by the foot rest that allows for adjustment of the spring preload over a range of something like 25 settings. No tools are required. Shock adjustment and front spring preload adjustment is identical to the non-ABS model. I have all receipts for any parts or maintenance I have done to the bike. The work that I didn't do on my own was done by either one of the local Honda dealerships or eventually by a very talented mechanic at the local BMW dealership who had worked on Japanese bikes in Dallas, TX in the past. I'd be willing to drive the bike some distance outside of Little Rock, Arkansas to meet the buyer (distance is negotiable). This depends on payment method that is chosen. This motorcycle is sold as is with no warranty, either expressed or implied, made by me. I have the clear title in hand (no loans or liens). I am willing to take the bike to one of the two area Honda dealerships (one in Little Rock, one in North Little Rock) for a buyer paid inspection. I am also willing to take any hi-resolution photos that you'd like to see and email them to you. My camera is able to do macro and super-macro photographs, so I can get as detailed as you'd like. I will only accept payment one of two ways. Either via PayPal (and I won't hand over the title until the funds are in my account if there is anything about the payment that causes PayPal to withhold the funds) or via a Cashier's check/money order that is accepted by my bank as guaranteed funds not subject to verification (again without any hold on the funds). So to be clear, the title and motorcycle will only change hands once I have the cash in my hands/account. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. I will get back with you promptly. And bid with confidence. Notice my 100% positive feedback rating. As you can tell, I am describing this item to the very best of my abilities so there are no surprises upon delivery of the bike to the buyer. On May-14-10 at 07:55:35 PDT, seller added the following information: A few extra things I thought about: 1) When I had the bike inspected by one of the local Honda dealers when I purchased it, I was told the bike had no signs of ever being wrecked before. The VIN is perfect and unaltered on the triple tree. 2) In that same inspection when I purchased the bike, the front two cylinders were compression tested and were found to be exactly within specs. No problems with compression reported at that time and I can attest that the bike runs perfectly at this time. 3) I have two original Honda keys for the bike. 4) I have the tool kit and owner's manual for the bike. 5) The battery was replaced (according to the prior seller) just before I purchased it. So it is supposedly about a year old. I keep the bike on a trickle charger (included in the sale if desired) so the bike starts and cranks without fail every time. 6) The bike is sold as-is as described above. It is also sold where-is as the buyer is responsible for all pickup and shipping charges (my offer still stands to drive the bike some distance out of Little Rock to meet the buyer, a distance to be negotiated between me and the buyer/prospective buyer). 7) Please contact me with any and all questions BEFORE making your bid. 8) A bank wire transfer is an acceptable form of payment, but if the bank requires a hold on any funds for some reason, I will not hand over bike and title until such time as the hold is lifted. I only have this requirement in place to protect me from people who aren't honest.
