Vehicle Detail
Here is one of the rarest finds in the Scout marketplace, an all original MINT CONDITION Terra pickup with the highly sought after Midas interior. The pictures pretty much tell the story although it looks even better in person. I bought this Scout about 3 years ago from a gentleman who was an original owner of the IH dealer in Albuquerque, NM. He had bought it many years earlier from the original owner and actually owned it most of its life. What makes this Scout pickup really unique (aside from the fact that not many Terra's were made and it has the Midas interior) is that it was not used much at all for hauling or work purposes. Since the owner also owned the IH dealership(which later became an International/Navistar truck dealership) he had access to many work trucks and therefore reserved this gem pretty much for his personal transportation. There are very few, if any, Scout Terra's that have been preserved to this degree. Although it was used for his drive to and from work for a number of years, it has rarely ever seen rain out in NewMexico and certainly no snow. Therefore its body is 100% rustfree and original. The only harsh element it was ever exposed to out in the west was the hot sun which eventually caused some fading of the black paint. The owner had it professionally painted about 5 years ago with close attention to the originality of the color and graphics. Being such a fanatic, the owner also had it serviced in his dealership using genuine IH (and or International/Navistar) parts on a regular basis and always stored it in his garage. The mileage on this vehicle is just over 94,000 ORIGINAL MILES. The engine is the stock and original 345 and is in perfect working order in all regards. As nice as this truck looks, mechanically it is just as impressive. The engine starts right up, runs cool, has tons of power, and is super smooth running on the highway. The auto trans shifts with silk smoothness and zero vibration even at highway speeds of 75+ mph. I've owned several scouts (including 4 others i currently have) and this is by far the nicest driving scout i've ever been in. The steering is precise and laser straight with no shimmies at any speed. It is a true pleasure to drive. Virtually everything inside and out is 100% original including the factory installed Cobra radio/cassette with CB and even the ceiling mounted clock. The only two details that are not stock original on it is that the bed was apparently sprayed with one of those bed coatings at some point over the years and also it has a short whip type antenna in place of the original power antenna (but the switch is still inside and one could easily be reinstalled). The only visible flaws it has are two small parking lot door dings on the drivers door which are not visible in the pictures and some minor colored scuff marks on the rear bumper which can be seen in the pictures. They would probably buff out but i never really tried. Also the a/c seems to need a charge. It is the original R12 system and i have not touched it. Since i purchased it in '07, its been stored in my climate controlled garage and has been meticulously maintained probably to a level comparable to the previous owner. I've taken it on a few trips to Upstate NY and take it on weekend drives in the country maybe once every other month. I am selling it because i am in the process of building a new house. I will also be selling an all original rust-free '78 Scout Traveler within the next few weeks and a vintage BMW. Oh, and it also has brand new BF Goodrich tires which i had installed about 500 miles ago. Feel free to email me any questions or to schedule an appointment to look at it. Good luck bidding! No zero feedback bidders please.
