1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel Automatic. For an old car, it still looks Stately. The Palomino interior is beautiful. The headliner is good with no sagging. The door panels all look nice. Their is a small split in the driver’s seat, but over all the upholstery is in really Good Condition as the pictures will show. The Paint Shines up nicely but does have scratches here and there and it is far from perfect. When I purchased the car two years ago, I’d planned on using it as a daily driver to run to town in and get good fuel economy in a safe older car. The windows all roll up and down and the motors inside the doors are good, each work properly with the switch on the door; however to control windows with the driver's console, under driver's arm rest, two of those switches will need to be replaced. The car still has the factory installed stereo but will not power on, not sure if it's a fuse or something else. The car had a rattle in the top of the engine that I have never figured out. When I purchased the car I was told that the diesel pump was out of time, but I’m sure it’s more than that now. Out here in the country, I never could get one of these diesel tractor boys to get excited about helping me get the car running as it should. I think the best option would be to put a used engine in the car. It seems like to nice a car to let weeds grow up around it. The car did drive forward and reverse without hesitation, but I never did drive it out on the hwy and so can’t say much about how the transmission shifts on the hwy. These cars rarely have transmission trouble and are very reliable for most people that give them even minimal service, but given my situation with this car I can’t make any promises. I’m selling the car as a parts car with out warranty and it will need to be trailered or towed to it’s new home. The car has 229,367 miles on the odometer and hasn't been driven in several months and will now not start. I will be more than happy to assist in loading the car on a trailer or in assisting with shipping. The cost for shipping and so forth would be at the buyers expense. We've owned another 300SD for 14 years and it has provided us with great service and has apx 350,000 on it now; my wife drives hers to work at the hospital daily. These cars provide a wonderful feeling of riding in a Vault as the doors go “Thug” when closing. The 300SD has the same engine as the 300D and we average over 20 mpg driving in town and have gotten as much as 29 mpg on the freeway. With diesel nearing $3 a gallon, these cars can still be operated for .10 - .15 cents a mile for fuel cost today. For the price of picking up one of these old diesel Mercedes, I don't think you can beat the overall cost of driving even an Electric Car charged up on wind energy. We are now rather committed to a mission trip that will move our family out of the country for a year or more. It will be an experience that our children will never forget and they will see many parts of the world that few children growing up on a farm in the mid-west will ever see or visit. We are excited about the experience, thus I am selling many of my projects that have sat around the farm that I may never get to. The car has a "Good Clear Oklahoma Title in my name.
