Vehicle Detail
The Superformance MKIII is the only Cobra replica built under license from Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. This auction is for SPF #237. This car has been completely updated and is a real "head-turner". Here's why this car is as good or better than new, even without considering the low price: Open the hood and listen to the "oohs" and "aahs". The engine is a polished, very strong running, 408 Windsor block stroker, assembled by the Engine Factory (www.enginefactory.com). It was installed in the car just over 1 year ago and has less than 3,000 miles on it. The original 800 CFM Edelbrock carburetor was replaced last year with a Holley Street HP 650 double pumper. The car is scarey fast, but if you want even more "oomph" I will install a Holley 800 CFM for no extra charge. Purchaser may select either carb, but not both. Click this link to see all the details on the components used in the engine build: https://www.fordcobraengines.com/shopDetails.asp?CatId=&SubCatId=&ProductId=97 An Accusump with electronic pressure switch was installed at the same time and has been consistently used as a pre-oiler upon start ups to minimize engine wear. This car has never been raced. It is titled as a "1965 Ford Cobra". Having plastic wind wings and visors on a high end car always struck me as odd, so I had a set of each custom made from tinted, tempered glass - so they don't scratch. I have an extra set of clear glass wind wings that I will send with the car in case you don't like the tint. I will include an extra, leather wrapped, steering wheel purchased from Finishline. http://www.finishlineaccessories.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=68&products_id=253 The car has a Jordan shift lever and a patented Steda CNC-machined billet aluminum short throw shifter with "offset-preload" coil springs that find third gear for you, so you won't miss! The troublesome, leaky, plastic standard Superformance brake fluid reservoir was replaced with a billet aluminum and AN line. Looks much better than the original and doesn't leak. There is a Firebottle installed in the trunk with outlets at the carb and the driver's feet, and a fire extinguisher mounted on the firewall. The firebottle needs to be recharged due to a curious ex-girlfriend. Included is a California Covers nylon, fitted car cover, a low-profile jack, jack stands, most of a coil of safety wire for the wheels, a safety wire tool, soft top w/ storage bags, tonneau cover and other misc. items that I have for the car. It has a brand new set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires with plenty of tread left on them. All four tires have been road force balanced and the car was aligned within the last 90 days. It corners like it's driving on velcro. NOTE: Some photographs show the car with its previous tires. The current MT tires DO NOT have the yellow lettering; they are plain black sidewalls. The car features a push button starter with a separate, covered pre-ignition switch. I will also throw in a Battery Brain with remote that can easily be installed if you have security concerns. The battery is less than 1 year old. This car was stripped to the glass, block sanded and painted with an eye-popping yellow paint just over 1 year ago. The work was done by Michael and Company in San Jose, California (www.michaelandcompany.com/) where you can call for more information (408-286-2988). All panels and doors were smoothed and straightened and front and rear Cobra logos were added. It's picked up a couple of small nicks (they all do) but looks great. The upper rear R/T Suspension Mounts™ upgrade has been installed on this car. If you are in the market for a used Superformance, be certain to ask if this upgrade has been performed. http://www.performanceunlimited.com/cobravalley/spfsuspensionmount.html Ignition system is Pertronix and has never given me a single problem. If you're going to get a Cobra replica - get a Superformance (www.superformance.com). If you're going to get a Superformance, why not get one that will stand out in the crowd? "There's an exception when it comes to Jimmy Price and Lance Stander. Superformance International makes replica Cobras in South Africa and calls the two-seat roadster they build the MKIII. It's not a true Shelby, but I've endorsed and licensed the car for being as close to correct and well-built as possible." - Carroll Shelby (Octane, Oct. 2006) This car was appraised on March 6, 2009, by the Automobile Appraisal Association in Santa Clara, CA as having a fair market value of $44,600. My "Buy it Now" price is thousands less than that. I will fax a copy of the Appraisal Report upon request. This car sounds, drives and looks great. It gets a lot of looks, more than its share of "thumbs up" and is a real treat to drive. Don't let it get away!
