I purchased this car about 14 years ago when I lived in Texas. I believe I am the 3rd owner. This car was originally sold in West Texas, and was painted to match the motor home that it was pulled behind. No rust problems and I have kept it garaged. It has not been restored it is original except for what I have added to it. I painted the fenders to match the body, they were gold. Installed hood rack, powder coated ($110 Now) from Thing shop. Installed show bar ($485.00), padding kit ($120), Thing Shop's new Sound Bar ($180) Replaced Generator and voltage regulator with a 50 amp Alternator Kit ($170) Replaced distributor with a 009 Centrifugal Advance Distributor and Pertronix Ignitor ($120) Installed GT style exhaust ($100) Installed front disk brakes, with 4 lug style. Master cylinder, 4 lug rear drum and brakes including wheel cylinders (type 3) Replaced front seats with seats from a town and country mini van, leather with power drivers seat. Dyed rear seats to match Replaced steering wheel with smaller after market, original goes with car if I can find it. Installed running boards with used set in very good condition Replaced wheels with BLACK 8 SPOKE ALUMINUM WHEELS Installed glove box door Carpeted inside of car and luggage area, made cover for spare tire Installed new bikini top from the thing shop ($325) Have but not installed, front and rear tube style bumpers and fiberglass rear fenders can be installed up to 4 inch wider than stock. The heating system is the same hot air system as a bug and works fine. The car runs well, I drove to a cruise in last week end. Comes with tow bar and home made light bar. Odometer has not worked the whole time I have owned the car, so I don’t know actual mileage, I never used the car as an everyday driver only driven for pleasure. Car originally had a hard top but it was stolen while I was using the bikini top. The reason I am selling the car. My brother also had a thing and we went to thing shows and worked on them together, he died in an accident about 2 years ago and I have lost interest.
