Vehicle Detail

1986 Honda XL600R Model: 1986 Honda XL 600 R Category: Enduro / on - off road / dual sport / dual purpose Displacement: 589.00 ccm (35.94 cubic inches) Engine type: Single cylinder 4 stroke air cooled Power: 44.00 HP (32.1 kW)) @ 6500 RPM Transmission: 5-speed Chain drive Please read this twice to avoid any surprises. Please examine the pics very carefully. If you want more or a close up of anything contact me. I have 100% positive feedback and I intend on keeping that way. First off, this XL600r is ready to register, get inspected and drive the same day you get it. I bought it last spring, 2 friends were going to also buy a dual sports. One bought a street bike, the other nothing. So if I want to ride with anyone it has to be on the road or alone. I fought with myself all winter on whether I should get a new street bike or new friends. Still not sure I made the right decision. XL600's are almost completely bulletproof. It's said the only way to kill the motor on one of these is to drain out the oil while it's running. It's a single cylinder with two carbs. One carb to ride around on but twist the throttle far enough, the second carb kicks in and hold on! XL600r's were never accused of lacking power. This thing will go just as fast off road as on road. By off road I mean local jeep trails, I never took it into the mountains to really test it out so I cant comment there. It's great around town, as for the highway it is supposed to be able to hit 100 but the best I ever got it up to was 75ish before I got nervous. Not made for highways at all. It accelerates quite well, my friends Kawasaki 900 can not out accelerate it no matter how hard he trys. Top speed would be a different story though. It starts/runs/idles/shifts/brakes with no problems, but these bikes are kick start only. It will start first or second kick when you get used to it but big bore Xl's are picky and if you don't know the process for your XL your leg is going to die trying. This one is simple once you have a feel for it. Crank the choke all the way, run through the kick starter 3-4 times, find "the spot" near TDC, and give her a solid kick. Will usually fire up first try cold. Here's a video of it being started / running a few hours before I made this auction. We went back out and tried a second time to see if we can make a better video. It started accidentally. To shut it off you have to use the kill switch. Turning the key just shuts the lights off. Which also means you can start it without the key, however the steering lock works perfectly and anyone trying to steal it better know XL's or the attempt will end with them giving up and limping away. Don't let the videos fool you, the only way to start a XL that easy is knowing your bike. The tires were brand new when I bought it last spring, still in great shape. The stator and CDI was replaced last August. All the plastics are good, no cracks. Stock exhaust was replaced with a supertrapp. The only real cosmetic problems are the rear turn signal plastic stems are not in good shape. They are taped up to keep them from drooping. The rear of the seat has a worn out patch jobs in the corners but otherwise fine. The gas tank has a small dent on the left side. Anything else is normal wear. The decompression cable on the handlebar was never there but it also runs from the kickstarter and that works fine. And it will need a new chain soon. The title is clear. However the mileage listed on it is 999,999. Massachusetts titles are deceptive. There are two boxes next to the odometer reading when filling out the back, it gives the impression you have to check one when you do not have to check either, one is marked "WARNING". The other says "I hereby certify to the best of my knowledge..." which is where a lot of people stop reading and just check the box according to the lady at the DMV. If you keep reading you'll soon see you are checking the box that says the odometer rolled over. And once the seller just checks it off when filling out the back you have two choices, either accept it or try to get him to spend $75 for a replacement title and wait months. I wasn't interested in waiting. But 16,222 is the actual mileage, I just can't prove it so bid accordingly. Ask any questions *before* you bid please. Shipping: Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping. However If you need it shipped I may be able to have it delivered cheaper than any commercial shipping company depending on your distance from Massachusetts Payment: $250 deposit of within 48 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close. BIDDERS WITH "ZERO" OR EXCESSIVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING On Apr-16-10 at 06:14:37 PDT, seller added the following information: CDI was also replaced last august with the stator.
