Well AMC fans this is it! When was the last time you saw a 100% original 18,000 mile American? I purchased this car 3 months ago from the original owner’s wife. She told me that before he passed away, he cherished the car until he decided to put it on jack stands and cover it up in 1974. For the past 36 years it has been untouched. Yes, this is a true time capsule. I have owned a restoration shop for 13 years and this is the nicest survivor car I have seen. This car even has the original tires. Luckily, it was on jack stands so the tires have no flat spots. This car is just a stunning piece of AMC history and I hope it goes to a good home. Please come see this car in person, you will be amazed. I have all documentation for the car including the original title. Now the bad news…because the car was sitting for 36 years the fuel system had to be gone through. I completely flushed the fuel tank and instead of buying a new fuel pump and carburetor, I rebuilt them, to keep the original parts with the car. I also went through the brakes and had to install 2 wheel cylinders. His wife told me that in 1970 she put a scratch on the passenger quarter panel and that her husband had it repainted. As a car guy, I can tell you that while the paint is in excellent condition overall, there are a few door dings and scratches and that the quarter panel that was repainted is slightly off in color. The only thing I have done with the interior is removed the seats in order to detail it. I have put about 200 miles on the car to make sure it is ready for a new home.
