Vehicle Detail
This 1973 Gremlin is a California vehicle which I purchased several years ago. The owner was an elderly gentleman who was the second owner and had owned it for almost 20 years. There was minor surface rust on the car, but all in all, it was in very good shape. I had initially thought I would have the engine rebuilt so took it to my mechanic. He indicated that it was in remarkably good condition so the following work was done: carburetor completely rebuilt, compression checked and found to be even and good on all cylinders, replaced worn distributor shaft, replaced all plugs and plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, checked chassis (good solid condition), replaced pitman arm and lubricated/ greased all other suspension components, reset timing, flushed gas tank, replaced belts as necessary, installed light bulbs where necessary, and changed all fluids (engine oil, trans, and radiator). The previous owner indicated that the brakes had been done about a year and half previously, and the mechanic’s inspection verified that. The exhaust is in good shape. The 304 V8 engine runs great with no leaks and no smoke. It accelerates very quickly, and the transmission shifts smoothly. It is very reliable, and I have not had any problems with any of the mechanicals of the car. I then took to it to the paint shop. It was completely sanded and any minor rust areas repaired. It was then primered and painted ‘07/’08 Mustang Grabber Orange with black highlights. The paint is a base coat clear coat. The chrome on the bumpers is good. The interior is very nice. All door panels are good and the headliner is good. The front seat has been recovered, the rear is original, and both are in very good condition. It was an original “radio delete” car, so it has never had a radio or cigarette lighter. All of the gauges work including the seat belt reminder light. The odometer shows 33K miles, so I assume it is 133K. The wheels and tires are in good condition with about 75%+ tread remaining on the tires. The glass all around is in good shape. I did add the rear window decal, and it can be removed easily if not wanted. The doors open and close properly (no sagging). The windshield wipers operate properly as does the turn signals. In summary, this is a very reliable, attractive vehicle. People always point to it, smile, and give “thumbs up”. It is sold as is with no warranty implied, however the description is honest and accurate. I can assist buyer with making vehicle transport arrangements.
