Thank you for visiting our auction. This is a very nice example of a previously owned vehicle but is likely not in perfect condition. If you are looking for a car that is 100 percent perfect, you need to purchase a new car. If you are interested in a very good used car, please consider this car. Up for bid today is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Here is one of those barn finds that you don't come across everyday. This would be an ideal restoration project that has been in storage for years. This car is out of a Northern California estate and is being sold as it was acquired. This is an original paint 1979 Pontiac 6.6 shaker hood, Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. This is the real deal. It still sports the original California blue plates that were issued to this car 31 years ago. The car does not have exhaust manifold but does have a good looking original exhaust. I had the car picked up and delivered on a flat bed truck. The spark plug wires were not connected and it did not have a battery. I put a battery in the car and all the lights on the dash came on. I put the spark plug wires on what looked like the correct plugs and fired it up. I put it in gear and it to see if the transmission works front and back which it does. I shut it off after a few seconds. It has power windows and both go up and down This car is being sold as a non runner but I was told it has a rebuilt motor and the previous owner had problems installing the exhaust manifolds and the project stopped and has gone unfinished and stored for several years. I do not have any proof of this other than I can say the car has been stored for several years indoors and that the engine looks to have new paint on the top but dirty where the manifolds go as well as having several new hoses that look new as does the fuel pump. The car has a very high dollar aluminum radiator that looks brand new and unused. This car is being sold as you see it. The interior is complete. The drivers seat is ripped and torn and the passenger seat has a few rips but is in better shape than the drivers seat. The rest of the interior is decent for a 31 year old F body. The doors line up as does the trunk and hood. The second hood latch is inoperable. The trunk is very solid. The T-tops are in very good shape and seem to have no issues and line up as they should. The car has original paint which is faded and worn but is original. All of the stickers are original. As with any car or any collector car " they are original only once." I am sure if you are looking for a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am you are familiar with the Smokey and the Bandit movies which has immortalized the Black 1979 Pontiac Trans Am for all time. This is a particular collector car that is going up in value every year and affordable cars are getting impossible to obtain. You can look on Ebay right now and find a like new 1979 Pontiac Trans Am for $55,000. There are several examples that are available but few original cars for under $25,000. Many are all original with original paint which is rare as the paint in 1979 was not good . Most 1979 Pontiac Trans Ams are at least repainted. This particular car has the original paint it left the factory with 31 years ago. The paint on this car is poor but its original. The body is straight and does not appear to have any body damage. This is a good thing as when you restore a car and make it better than new, a solid original car is much easier to make perfect than a car that has body work either past or present. This is a car that I will make into a perfect high dollar Trans Am if not sold first. I purchased this with that in mind but becasue of several other projects, nothing has been done on it. I will kick myself later but I have too many projects and not enough time. It has what looks like two new Michelin 235/50/ZR18 Pilots and two new Centerline 18 inch wheels. The other two are the original turbo style Trans Am wheels. What you see is what you get. I was going to sell the wheels that are on it to purchase the original style wheels that would have come on this car. The wheels are the only non original items. I have found a set of Snowflake original style wheels for $350. All of the stickers are intact . This is a California car from new. Built in California and sold new in California with original California blue plates. DAS will charge approximately $200.00 to pick it up at our door. VEHICLE REGISTRATION, SALES TAX, SMOG, ETC. We are a licensed California auto dealer. The state requires that if you are out of state and plan on coming here to pick up your vehicle, California law REQUIRES the buyer to pay sales tax and obtain a one day permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles. This is not my law but the State Board of Equalization. It can be found in Publication 52, May 2005, on the State Board of Equalization website. Here is a quote from it as it pertains to out of state buyers: "For a purchaser to qualify for the exclusion from use tax described above, title (ownership) and possession of the vehicle or vessel must transfer tot he purchaser outside of California. When a purchaser exercises control over the vehicle or vessel in California prior to the planned out-of-state delivery, ownership transfers to the purchaser in California. Therefore, if any person other than the seller, or an agent acting on behalf of the seller, delivers the vehicle or vessel from California to the purchaser at an out-of-state location, ownership transfers to the purchaser in California, and California use tax applies. For example, if a purchaser asks a friend or hires a common carrier to deliver the property from California to himself at any out-of-state location, use tax applies." To obtain clearance of the use tax and I quote again: "Shipping receipts showing the date of delivery to a shipping agent and the date the property was delivered to the owner (if the vehicle or vessel was shipped). the recepts should include information that clearly describes the vehicle or vessel, such as the vehicle's identification number (VIN#) or license plate number, or the vessel's California registration number (CF#) or hull identification number (HIN#). If the recepts do not provide adequate information, you may need to provide additional documentation. Also, a vehicle purchaser may use from BOE-448, Statement of Delivery Outside California, to support the fact that the vehicle was delivered outside this sate." If you are a California resident, we collect sales tax, registration fee, documenation fee, and a $50.00 smog inspection fee. We then provide you with registration in the window so you can legally drive the vehicle until your title and license plates arrive in the mail. If you are an out of state buyer, you will need to pay a $55.00 documentation fee in addition to the price of the vehicle. PAYMENT INFORMATION Please follow the rules of the auction after it is completed regarding deposit and full payment deadlines. Anyone not following auction rules will be reported to Ebay and appropriate feedback will be left. There is a clear title on the vehicle. A non refundable $500 deposit must be sent within 24 hours of close of auction via Paypal, money order or cashier's check. Full payment needs to be received no later than 5 p.m. on the Friday immediately following the of close of auction. If you reside outside the continental US you must pay via wire transfer. Please don't bid if you are unable to follow the rules. We do not finance vehicles. You mush have your funds readily available at the end of the auction for payment. Your bid is a binding contract to purchase a vehicle. We do not accept credit cards. Due to an increase in nonpaying bidders, we must insist on a nonrefundable down payment deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. Failure to leave the downpayment will result in appropriate negative feedback and I will turn the case over the Ebay Dealers Development and let them handle the situation. All vehicles that are sold to California buyers that legally require a smog inspection will include the smog unless otherwise stated in the auction. Any California buyer will be responsible for all state sales tax, license and documentation fees. Out of state buyers will need to contact their own DMV office for registration and transfer information. We will collect a $55.00 documentation fee from out of state buyers.
