Vehicle Detail
1973 Dodge Challenger; VIN JH23H3B488735 NUMBERS MATCHING 340 4 Barrel, 3 speed auto, rallye package. CLEAR TEXAS TITLE IN HAND. I HAVE ALL FENDER TAGS, AND A PARTIAL BUILD SHEET. Original vinyl top car, black interior, buckets, console, rallye dash. THIS IS NOT A 1970, NOT A HEMI, NOT A 6 PACK, AND FINALLY, NOT A 4 SPEED. What it is, is a good basis to start a restoration. No surprises concealed. I WILL NOT PART OUT AT THIS TIME, PLEASE DO NOT ASK. BID, WIN, AND YOU PART IT OUT. You are bidding on an almost complete vehicle, not just the chassis pictured here. Missing parts that I remember are listed below in the description. Most missing parts are consumables or parts you would want to replace during a restoration. Complete except for the following parts that were removed and trashed because they were rotted, bent, or just plain worn out: Gas tank, fuel lines, brake lines, misc body bushings, rubber items (hoses, belts, bushings, ball joints, etc...), headliner (have bows), carpets, and (1) hood hinge that the first body guy did not give me back, but I am trying to still get back. Numbers matching drivetrain (engine, trans, rear end/axle), wheels w/used tires, interior (seats, panels, dash, trim, etc...), glass, trim, k member, front torsion suspension, rear leafs/shackles, etc... Not shown in pictures, but included, AND not limited to just these parts listed. MANY, MANY tubs of parts. Most bare metal and painted metal parts were dipped and epoxy primed as described below. History - I bought this car 10 years ago with it running and looking good. 7 years ago I decided to have it stripped down and have any body work done correctly and go thru the rest of the car to completely restore it stock. It was stock; I just wanted to mint it out. The person who was doing the body work stripped most of it down and there it sat for 7 years to essentially present day. Work & starting a family got in my way so it never really bothered me to be without the car for so long. Life has slowed down a bit so I started to get after the person doing the body work, and started dropping in periodically on him. Minimal was being done so I took the car and pile of parts back. It did not look bad at all, but was disassembled and in primer. I decided I wanted to take it down to bare metal and see what I had because the car was almost completely disassembled. After all I wanted the car restored correctly one time, this whole time. I completed the disassembly what was still assembled and took the body, doors, valances, hood and trunk, along with hundreds of parts to be dipped by Metal Rehab in Arlington, TX. They dipped everything I brought to them, and epoxy primed everything inside and out. When I picked it up, to my horror I saw some unacceptable patches and rot that the first body guy I took it to had covered it up with filler. Over $3500 spent for dipping and priming alone. NOT AN ACID DIP. It is a new chemical that is safe to dunk your arm in if you felt the need to so. I have since priced a replacement roof, deck lid, hood, door skins, trunk floor, cabin floor, and rear quarter patch panels. Parts are available thru Year One and other sources, and reasonable around $1-$3k depending what you would want to replace BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED. They all do not have to be replaced, but I wanted it to be mint. Labor on the other hand for metal work alone has been estimated between $7k -$10k to straighten the existing, and replace the cabin and trunk floors. That is fixing any and every bit of metal work required on the entire car, but did not include paint or reassembly. I did get an estimate from DFW Hot Rods to do everything including reassembly of the entire car plus paint for $10k, but not including the price of parts or shop materials, and it would take 6-7 months. So after soul searching and my wife’s insistence, here I am today offering it up with everything I have for it. I WILL NOT PART IT OUT, SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK. It is a numbers matching car and I have a clear Texas title in hand. 340 4 barrel, with an automatic trans. Motor and trans could probably use a going thru, but ran great when I took it to the first body guy. The car could easily be parted out because it is completely disassembled and you could make easy profit. The numbers matching engine, trans, rear end/axle are not disassembled but removed from chassis. Have multiple extra center consoles, although original is in excellent shape. For further information or pictures, please email me thru here a list of specific questions. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. I ENJOY 100% FEEDBACK, AND WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR PURCHASE.
