Painter's Grind, went through this entire van before I got it back so the engine has been inspected. I almost finished restoring it completely aside from some minor damage (caused by a bear up in yellowstone a couple years back to the left side) I also did not get to replace the canvas upholstery for the pop-top, which is torn on the bottom (you could easily sew the tear yourself), but I have found them between $100-$200 to replace and its fairly easy to fix yourself. Van also comes with original 1985 Owner's Manual's (same as the 84') for all appliances and all features of the van! In the past year I have invested easily $5000 into this beast getting it back to where it is today. I had the engine (original stock 1.8 liter waterboxer engine) professionally rebuilt by Painter's Grind in Denver which ran me a little under $4.5k, this was done less than 1000 miles ago so this van comes with basically, a brand new engine. I was given a 1 year 12,000 miles warranty on the engine as well by Painter's Grind, which I'm fairly certain is transferable (I still have to confirm this so no guarantees). I just installed a brand new alternator and battery last week and completely went through all the wiring and replaced any damaged old wiring as well as installed an aftermarket CD/Radio player. It comes with a Recaro driver side seat which adds quite the appearance to the interior of the van. All the appliances work great and there is absolutely NO RUST on the van. A true shocker when people come out to look at this precious gem. The clutch was just replaced as well as the brakes and tires!! The muffler was replaced about 500 miles ago and the van has two BRAND NEW Head cylinders (not the ones the damn Germans made which blow after 50k miles) I have been told these ones will last a century. I have all the original receipts since the previous owner and as you will see a lot of time and money has been put into getting this beaut back to where it is today. If your looking for reliable, fun, wild, real looker, mode of transportation this is the only thing available for you... Its a real head turner and something people will always cherish on the roads. Sleeps 4 people very comfortably and has two stoves, a refridgerator, dining room table, couch/pull out bed, etc. This was the first year of the Waterboxer engines, so again expect reliability!!! I saw the exact same year and van sell on Craigslist about 2 months ago for $14,000 and one for $11,500 both of which didnt have a new engine, I just need the money to help alleviate some of the payments on my new car. The van's odometer reads 151K miles, when I investigated the carfax, I noticed that it had been reported as having 189k miles, the van's mileage at that time was either incorrectly reported or the odometer was replaced (I do not know which as I bought the van without this knowledge) either way it's in great shape and after driving it you would never know! You will not find a better van ANYWHERE around. I will also include a small trailer and moped with the van if the price is right, I will include my Kinetic TFR Moped which is a must if you own this van! If I'm forced to ship the van I can easily put the moped inside of it. I will try and upload pictures of the actual bike when I get a chance, it ran mid-winter but have not started it in a couple months!!!
