Vehicle Detail

Cool little 1965 Buick Gran Sport. I am the 4th owner, and I have the registration receipts from its new purchase in '65 to '69, where it was sold to a fellow in El Paso. This car is a real Gran Sport, and sports its original numbers-matching engine. This Buick is an excellent project car for the restorer looking for an original Gran Sport. The body is an excellent candidate, but far from perfect. The lower 1/4 panels and fenders are virtually rust free, and the trunk floor has only tiny areas to patch. It does not need any trunk floor pieces; only minor filling of a tiny area. The car was stored under a tree for many years, so the window channel has rust. The pictures show the bubbles. Also, the rear window channel and trunk filler area looks very fixable, not nearly as bad as the front dash-to-channel piece. The front piece would best be replaced with the panel available from Goodmark through Summit etc., for $75. The car has been in fender benders, and has filler and repairs. The front and rear bumpers are crappy, and I personally would find a new hood and passenger fender. Also, the trunk lip channel that holds the gasket is rusty in areas. The rear has definitely been bumped around in its life, but is still solid-it needs minor straightening near the bumper. The rest of the body appears OK, despite filler. The motor is the original LR-code 401 and runs fine. It is numbers matching to the VIN, also. The transmission works great also, and the power brakes, steering and air conditioning all work as well! The original limited-slip rear end is there with the tag still attached. This little GS is a rare post coupe that has never been totally torn apart. It is also a very imperfect project car. Please consider the work involved in a labor like this one! Also, consider the options and opportunity that finding a solid project car like this one brings. I am an official GM a-body lover, and it will be sad to see the Gran Sport go. I cannot arrange shipping, so the buyer must figure that out, but I will definitely help with the process. Please ask any questions you have via email, and thanks for looking! On Apr-11-10 at 16:28:03 PDT, seller added the following information: The Gran Sport also has the correct rebuilt Carter 3921 AFB installed (just yesterday) by me. I also only changed the spark plugs, and the motor runs great. It will be an easy tune-up. Also, it does not burn oil out the tailpipe! I want the buyer to be totally aware of what he or she is getting! I personally was going to find a hood, fenders, grill, and bumpers. There are signs of wrecks in the radiator and core support, also. But the core support isn't badly damaged, and I would keep it. Thanks again for looking, and feel free to check this little jewel out in person! It is actually cool to see the perfect frame and rust-free lower quarters/fenders, although the window channel rusty spots and cracks in filer come from longtime sitting. On Apr-12-10 at 06:35:04 PDT, seller added the following information: The passenger lower quarter has a weld seam barely visible about 12" long, just above the factory spot welds. That has to be bodywork of some sort. Viewing from the inside trunk, I can't see any difference (it looks like the same metal, not a patch?). The lower body is still not rusty, though. PLEASE remember: This car has a body far from perfect, but very restorable. It will need plenty of bodywork. I hate to see someone buy a project car that they become discouraged with...I know because I still do that when I find a diamond-in-the-rough!
