Vehicle Detail
1988 Ford F-250 XLT with under 68,000 ORIGINAL MILES. I bought this truck from my coworker who bought it new in 1988. I have most of the original literature and even the original window sticker! He put a camper top on it and used it sparingly over the years until he recently retired and upgraded to an RV. This truck has VERY LITTLE RUST anywhere on the body! Please look closely! There is no body filler and the truck has never been in an accident. Cab corners, fenders, rocker panels, bed, etc are rust free. This truck starts right up every time & the low mileage, fuel injected 5.8 liter gasoline 351 engine runs great. 3 speed automatic shifts great. Tires are new Kumho Road Venture AT51 at all 4 corners mounted on black steel wheels. (I have the original wheels and hubcaps should the winning bidder want them.) Brakes work fine, suspension is firm, but good. New exhaust manifolds and custom exhaust (no cat), all new plugs and wires were done less than 3k miles ago. 4WD with manually locking front hubs works great and the combo of 4WD and the new tires makes this F-250 unstoppable in the snow! Interior is in absolutely beautiful condition, with just a few superficial stains on the carpet as pictured. Headliner is perfect. Volt meter and temp gauge are not working. The R12 AC has a slow leak. I filled it in June and the AC worked great until late August. I have not refilled it. Other systems work as they should, including heat, am/fm tape deck stereo, cruise control, all lighting, etc. Besides the two gauges, the only problems of note are a leak in the front tank that has been present for years, so I just use the rear tank and it’s fine, the spare tire bracket is rusty, but works fine & can be easily replaced, the check engine light comes on sporadically due to the cat being removed as well as the smog pump (does not affect how the truck runs AT ALL), there is minor fluid seapage underneath (rear main seal, etc.. see pics) but there is never a drop of fluid in my driveway, and finally, the paint is faded, chipped, worn through, etc. I was going to paint the truck since the body is almost pristine, but the patina adds to the character of the truck, in my opinion. It gets lots of “thumbs up” and attention everywhere I drive it!This is the perfect classic truck to buy and then enjoy...... it is a workhorse that has led a pampered life and has lots left in it! It drives like a 68,000 mile truck should! Any rust on the frame is superficial and there is no rot.... the frame is very solid. Please ask ANY questions prior to bidding. I represent my items honestly (check my feedback) and I don’t waste people’s time, so please don’t waste mine.
