Vehicle Detail
1995 BMW 540i/6 speed (E34) Black Exterior Tan Interior I am selling my 1995 BMW 540i (E34) which is the last in line of the 3rd generation BMW 5 series. The car is the manual 6 speed stick shift version which is uncommon (1,524 made) and sought after by sport enthusiasts. I am the second owner, having purchased the car in 2004. This is a great car with terrific solid feel on the road, and it is a joy to drive. However, the V-8 engine only gets 22mpg on the freeway, and we just purchased a more suitable commuter car for round trips to the bay area. Per bmwguide.net: "The E34 was among the most reliable luxury cars on the market, earning the best-in-class ratings from Intellichoice in 1991, and still considered one of the most reliable BMWs ever made. It was also one of the safest cars on the road during its production, providing airbags, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, and a very rigid body structure to protect occupants in the event of an accident. It was also equipped with traction control (ASC+T) in later years on higher-specification variants." The car has been regularly serviced at A&B German Car Care in Rocklin and has a fresh synthetic oil change. Known issues with the car: *The radio (stock) works, but will fade to zero volume sometimes. Maybe a dried out electrolytic capacitor that could be replaced? *The back left window will stick sometimes when rolling up/downNote that I found out today, 9/5/2018, about a prior vehicle incident with the previous owner in August 1997 (when based on mileage records it looks like the car probably had about 20,000 miles on it). I purchased the car in December 2004 from a BMW dealership in Atlanta with about 75,000 miles on it, and have the pink slip and sale record with no mention of incident report. Until now, I thought I had a clean title, and have not noticed any observable symptoms visual or otherwise.I am aware of the Kelley Blue Book value for the automatic transmission version of the vehicle being ~$2,000. However, the 6 speed is 7.2x more rare than the automatic. I thought that ANY incident meant a car would be a "salvage" title. But whatever issue was resolved. The CA title is clean.
