Vehicle Detail
1990 Suzuki 1100 Katana Streetfighter - 150 hp, fresh engine, reliable, street legal. Custom tank, seat, handlebars, frame mods. Gas mask fairing. It is easy to ride gently, but if you yank it wide open it boils the tire or stands up on the back wheel and you can't hold it down. It's peak power happens below 10,000 rpm which means it is torque intensive power. Acceleration is like being rear ended by a train. Comfortable ergonomics, superlow seat is moved forward, wide bars, big bore kit, high compression, large valves, large carbs, backcut transmission. If you aren't sure what all this means, it might not be the right bike for you. It needs an owner who already has a sensible bike and just wants to turn heads once in a while. I built it 25 years ago and never really rode it that much. It hasn't been ridden in 5 years, but it will start right up with battery and gas. I estimate the mileage to be under 10,000 on the bike and less than 1000 miles since I modified it in 1994. Its a good bike, but it is shockingly LOUD. Too much bike for me now - I got old. It needs some some paint touch up and some polishing, but in a line up of custom harleys and stretched Hayabusas, it draws a bigger crowd. In traffic IT GETS NOTICED!!!!If you are not 100% satisfied after you personally see and ride it, you don't have to buy it. I will return your deposit and give you positive feedback anyway. You have no risk. But, if you pay for it and take it away, then the deal is solid; no refund.Location: Akron, OH On Sep-08-18 at 19:33:48 PDT, seller added the following information: On Sep-08-18 at 19:37:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Answers to good questions I have received.- Bottom end torque is the highlight of this motor. From idle, slowfy drop your right elbow and it lays rubber. The tank is aluminum, no corrosion. Pipe and some fasteners have flash rust. It's always been in the garage or sun, so no problem rust, just cosmetic. I started it last week and rode it a bit. No smoke, no leaks, and lord have mercy, it's STRONG!!! Lights are adequate up to 70 on a dark highway. Low beam is one light. High is both. Wiring is in place for turn signals and horn, but they are not installed. Wiring all works and is reliable. Frame mods are subframe only. Swing arm is stock. Battery is mounted in front of header. Exhaust canister is removeable and this high compression big bore so LOUD as is that canister removal might break windows in town. It's a head turner for it's sound and its looks. On Sep-09-18 at 07:12:34 PDT, seller added the following information: RESPONSE TO MORE QUESTIONS - These Suzukis can sometimes develop slightly rounded off engagement dogs on the side of the second gear set. This can cause them to jump out of second and into neutral under high power. The solution and prevention is to backcut a 3 degree angle on the second gear dogs and this pulls them deeper into engagement under high power and makes for a secure engagement into second. This does not affect the meshing teeth and does not cause wear of the teeth. This mod is to the dogs on the sides of the gears. This is the only thing done to the transmission. The shifter has not been relocated or modified, but the pegs have been lowered 1" and the rear brake lever was reshaped because of this. Handling in corners - It handles just fine in corners and does not headshake at highspeeds straight or turning. The bike weighs 477 now and a stock Katana weighs 610, so it is a little stiff but not rough. I don't knee-drag on any bike and I don't know how it would handle leaned way over in a turn, but it has so much torque that it will easily power slide on dry concrete leaving a black eyebrow of rubber on the pavement followed by a sloooowww muscle wheelie as it straightens out. It is a risky thing to do and has the potential for a bad crash. Never speed on corners; you can die. I estimate my cost in the bike in 1993 dollars to be over $4000 which equates to $6960 in 2018 dollars. I previously listed it on Craigs for $3500 - a bargain. This auction is grossly undervaluing the bike, but the reserve has been reached and it will go to the highest bidder. The Ohio title is in my name it has no leins. Buyer gets the clean title. I am a degreed mechanical engineer who designs construction equipment for a living and I have applied my skills and education in the design of the mods, but I won’t guarantee anything. As for safety, motorcycles come with risks and modified motorcycles have potentially higher risks. This bike can injure and kill. I disclaim all responsibility for anyone’s safety. But, I hope you stay safe, have fun, and feel like a cool cat when people turn their heads to stare as you ride this bike. I did. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
