Vehicle Detail
I've enjoyed this truck for several years, and am the 3rd owner. I renewed the driveline when I first bought it 3 years ago - the engine and transmission professionally rebuilt about 6K miles ago. I didn't cut any corners, and had the turbo and injectors overhauled too. Truck is stock, I wanted reliability, longevity and solid towing capability. You could chip it and add single shot injectors if you want, but I chose to keep is stock and quiet (for a 7.3). The 4R100 trans was completely rebuilt by a local shop I've worked with for 20 years, the used the best quality frictions, steels, and seals available and added a shift kit for extra holding power when towing. The truck has been in the high, dry, desert of New Mexico all it's life, and there is no corrosion anywhere on the truck. That's why I bought it - it's as clean and straight a late 99 F-350 as I could find. The XLT comes with power windows, door locks, seats, and tinted windows. I'm not sure if all XLTs come with aluminum wheels, but this truck has them. It has anti-lock brakes and factory limited slip differentials. It has a tubular grill that was added by a PO, and a nice bedliner that has protected the bed since it was new. The tailgate is straight and solid and all the doors close with a solid thud. The front hubs have been upgraded to M&M manual units by a PO, but I cleaned, inspected, and relubed them just to make sure they were in good shape. The radio is the factory AM/FM/CASS/CD unit which works perfectly, but I replaced all 4 speakers - several had torn cones and buzzed when there was lots of base. Everything works on this truck as it should, with the few exceptions: 1) Sometimes the door locks don't all move up and down on the first push. They worked flawlessly when I've replaced all 4 actuators about 2 years ago, but there must be some resistance in the control linkage or lock mechanism that requires attention. 2) The remote keyless entry fobs also worked great for about a year when I replaced the batteries and programmed them, but neither one seems to respond now. 3) The power wire to the horn is shorted somewhere between the relay and the horns, I've tested both and they're fine but if you hook them up and press the horn it'll pop the fuse. Finally, there's an electrical glitch somewhere in the Electronic Shift On the Fly system, it hasn't worked since I bought the truck - doesn't respond when you select 4WD High or LOW. I've checked out the transfer case manually, tested the relays that should move the actuator, and even tested/replaced the actuator motor assembly, but there's a wire or relay module in-between the dash and the transfer case that isn't doing it's thing correctly. Since I didn't really need the 4WD, I haven't invested more time to sort it out. I may sort out the first 3 items before the auction ends, but I don't plan to fuss with the ESOF so consider this an issue for future attention. One local shop suggested I just convert it to manual selection since the front hubs are manual anyway, but I didn't really have a need to get that far into it. I've replaced things that might leave me stranded just to be safe, including the starter, fuel pump, batteries, drive belt, and thermostat. I installed 6 new Yokohama Loadrange E commercial truck tires this summer. and have changed the oil and filter religiously since they were installed. The truck has upgraded shocks This is a really nice, stock build truck that I had fun freshening up, but it's time to find it a new home. I have confidence it will go anywhere and run well for a long time if maintained as required. Email me any questions and I'll do my best to respond promptly. This is a no reserve auction.
