I purchased this VW Thing from a gentleman in Pennsylvania who has owned it since 2000. His father-in-law had purchased it new and then had given it to him in 2000. The mileage is actual, and it was driven until five or six years ago. He went through a divorce, and in the process, parked the car. His current wife talked him into selling it, and I bought it from him. He said the car ran fine until he parked it. I brought it home, put jumpers on the battery, put fresh gas in the tank, and tried to start it. It does roll and have good compression; however, there is a 6-inch-long gas line on the motor that has deteriorated and is leaking. Also, the motor did not act as if it had fire. A couple of the tires will go flat over a period of time, but they will hold air long enough to load it. I have a clear PA title notarized to me, and I will get an Ohio title in my name before the auction ends. This model does have the auxiliary heater under the hood. As seen in the pictures, there is some rust damage, and there are some dents. I am putting a very modest reserve on this project. Two forms of payment will be accepted: cash at pickup or a certified bank check. If paying by check, my bank typically puts a seven-business-day hold on all checks. I will not release the vehicle until funds have cleared my bank. I will not ship. If shipping is required, it will be the sole responsibility of the successful bidder.
