Vehicle Detail

1962 Lincoln Convertible, original motor and trans. Power windows, power locks, power seat, power top, power steering, power brakes, autronic eye (auto dimming high beams), AM radio. Everything works! Car was pulled from a barn where it sat since 1994, rock solid floors, rockers, trunk, doors, there are a couple of small rust spots on the bottom of the quarters. I have been driving the car the way she is, gets looks everywhere! looks very cool and runs great however to make it a show car it would clearly need an interior and paint New tune up, new battery, new Riddler 20'' wheels, 4 new tires, (2500.00 into wheels and tires) new Wheel cylinders (all four), all new brake hoses, new brake shoes front and rear, new brake hardware front and rear, new top motor, new lift cylinders, new water pump, new passengers side heater core, all four shocks new (rear air) and new sway bar links. I have put hundreds of miles on this car in the 6 months I have owned it with no problems, there are no holes or tears in the top, however the back window is stained and the rear of the top needs to be re-attached to the tack strip (shrunk a bit). Top works as it should however I would replace the hoses as they are original and I just put in a new high volume lift motor. I have the original wheels and tires as well as a couple sets of hubcaps, the spare is the original as well and is in awesome condition. Feel free to email me with any questions or stop by and check her out, nothing to hide we can take her for a ride, car is not a pristine show car or it would be 60k, drive her as is or great bones for a top notch resto. On Aug-26-18 at 07:22:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, I have had a few questions I wanted to share. 1. How is the exhaust? I had new resonator eliminator pipes made for her few months ago, the mufflers are good however the pipes from the manifolds back have a couple pin holes (i think they are origional) there is an exhaust manifold leak on the passenger side that you can hear only under excelleration (its not cracked from what I can see). 2. How bad is the Interior? In my opinion bad, carpets are shot, seats are dry cracked everywhere (no holes or tears in them), dash is perfect except for the woodgrain, door panels are also nice except for the woodgrain, steering wheel is good, AM radio works and all guages work except the clock, again I have been driving it this way. 3. Does the top work? As I stated YES, occasionally one of the switches when the deck is opened gets out of alignment which makes me have to push the lid back a bit to continue the open cycle however as of right now that has not happened in a week or so, the top pump and the two lift cylinders are brand new, if you are buying this car you know how finiky these tops are, you will be messing with it occasionally, I have a service manual for the top and will include it with the car. 4. Do the windows work? Yes, all the power windows and power locks work. 5. is there any rot on the trunk or on the frame. NO, all the floors are solid including the trunk, the rockers are perfect and all of the unibody is rock solid. 6. is the engine ok? Yes she is quiet as a church mouse other than the exhaust leak under excelleration. Again folks this is a 56 year old car that had not been on the road since 94, i have been driving her this way since i got her but that doesnt mean it is a perfect car, it does need work and will need a resto if you arent into the rat rod look. there were only about 3200 of these cars made and most of them rotted away, these cars done right are pulling 60k, the ones needing resto I have seen on ebay dont run and are rotted everywhere, this is way better start or just drive it the way it is and enjoy...............please feel free to email me with any questions or things i may have missed or feel free to come and check it out. Also I did forget, there is a new starter in the car too.On Aug-29-18 at 11:48:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, a couple more questions. Is there rust on the car or any bondo? As I indicated and you can see in the photos, there are a couple of rust through spots on the quarters, also there looks like there has been some "bondo" work done in the quarters and possibly the lower fenders sometime well over 20 years ago. How is the paint? (this one made me laugh) look at the photos, it needs paint, the paint is faded scratched sun damaged, etc........ some areas are original some appear to have been repainted well over 20 years ago. How is the suspension? Probably could use ball joints and a idler arm, a little sloppy like a 50+ year old car but by no means dangerous or ready to fall apart, I drive my kids in the car all the time. Last one, Help me understand the problems with the top? The back window is plastic and rust stained, the top has shrunk and pulled away from the tack strip at the back, these tops are electrical-mechanical-hydraulic and very complex, there are dozens of switches and relays that make these tops work, I occasionally have a problem with one of the switches that causes me to have to give a slight nudge to the trunk lid mid cycle to get it to the next step, I have adjusted the switch and it works for for a week or so and then goes out of adjustment again (probably could use a new switch idk, I am not an expert by any means on these) lastly I would replace the top hoses, they are original and I now have a brand new high pressure pump pushing fluid through them. Again I will say, this car needs to be restored if you want a shiny new looking vehicle that you can wax and yell at the kids for getting fingerprints on LOL, it needs and interior, and body and paint work, the floors, frame (unibody), rockers and trunk are all very very solid. I have been driving the car as she is for 6 months but am not trying to say she is a show car, I don't know how else to say it. Please email me if there is something that is not clear or if there are additional pictures you need.
