Vehicle Detail
This is a 3 owner vehicle with a clean history. The first owner out of New York put only 12k miles on it in 8 years by driving his grand kids to the Hamptons. The second owner purchased it from a dealership and brought it to Rhode Island where he put another 6k miles on it until he had to sell it because his wife was unable to drive manual. I purchased it in 2014 with 18,800 miles on it and drove it home to Wisconsin. I just hit 39k miles and it is now being put up for sale. Being a 16 year old car, the interior and exterior are in pretty great shape. The interior is very clean with very few small blemishes on carpet and seats. No rips or tears anywhere (really has to be seen to be believed.) The exterior is in nice shape with paint that still shows brilliantly, and only minor scratches and paint chips. (Sun damage - see Cons). The pictures will not do it justice. It has great Heating and AC, including heated seats and a heated steering wheel. This X5 was built during a great time when BMW also owned Land Rover so it inherited some of the best things from their SUV’s, Including the Hill Descent Mode, and the split rear tailgate. Also has an excellent radio/CD, sunroof, ABS, and traction control. I also upgraded the vehicle to BMW Xenon projector headlights. The motor runs like new! A smooth 3.0 BMW inline 6. 5 speed manual transmission shifts perfectly! No grinding gears or slipping clutch. Car now has just 39,016 miles on it! The SUV will come with a full Weather Tech mat set in tan, as well as the factory mats, all of which are in great shape. I will include a hard cover factory manual for the car. Also have a set of winter wheels and tires available SEPARATELY. Oil has been changed every 3000 miles with the Full Synthetic BMW oil change kit through ECS tuning In last 3 years: K&N Air Filter Replaced lower front control arms Replaced front rotors and pads Replaced driver side speed sensor In last year: Crankcase breather valve replaced with cold weather version Exhaust gaskets (front and rear) replaced Replaced front thrust arms Replaced downstream O2 sensors Replaced lower ball joints Replaced stabilizer links Cons: The vehicle has sun damage from sitting in New York for many years. The clear coat is peeling on the roof right above the windshield and partially in some door jams. The sun damage also caused some early aging on the interior of the car but is nothing more than some mild discoloration, and very little leather shrinkage on leather and cloth areas. A common problem with these cars is that the heating elements in the front seats can break and burn holes in the seats. I believe that is what happened in a small spot on the driver seat. I cannot confirm as I have not used the seat heater since noticing it. The LCD displays on early 2000 BMW’s were also prone to shorting out and lines dying out. I am glad to say this has not happened to this car until last month. Unfortunately one line has started to come and go. It is not very noticeable, but it does die out and reappear every so often. There was a dent in the hood and there is a small stress mark in the front bumper. I chose to replace the hood with one in the same color and year because the existing one had irreparable dents and sun damage. The hood I received is in great shape with a nice clear bra installed, but it does not have the same style emblem so I believe it is off a newer X5. It still fits nicely but it is a bit taller than the fenders in areas, and has small dents that I never got around to repairing. The right rear just started squeaking about a weak ago. The bushings are probably just getting old. I would love to keep this car as it is my favorite year of BMW and I searched long and hard to find a low mileage manual version. Alas, I need a truck, and my girlfriend has an SUV and does not know how to drive manual. I know I will regret selling this down the road.Any specific photos, please contact me.
