Chevrolet was getting beat out of many sales with the bad publicity that came from the Corvair, as well as the popularity of the Mustang. The Camaro "pony" car (meaning long front hood, and short rear deck, with power) was offered in many platforms for the largest appeal to a wide audience, from basic to a race car which definitely escalated Chevrolet sales and created a classic. This 1967 first generation Camaro base model is mostly an original example (excepting the paint, and newly installed convertible top). No body rust, no mechanical problems, and very good, well maintained, original condition. This project would be a very easy one to bring this car to its original paint scheme (Granada gold). A smooth-running driver, that will turn heads along your commute, as well as in the work parking lot. Exterior A fair condition repaint showing cracking, peeling, crazing, and overspray in red covers the car. No rust, no evident body work for any accident repairs, and chrome is in good shape. Slight scuffing of chrome is seen on upper driver's side windshield surround, mainly from raising and securing the convertible top. Exterior badging is original, grille in good shape, and lighting in all working order. A new convertible top has been installed. An underside view of this car shows it in excellent condition, with no rust on floor pans and minimal surface rust on frame. Stock Camaro steel wheel covers are present on all 4 corners. Interior Black vinyl bucket seats in front, and a black vinyl bench seat is in back. Passenger front bucket has a rip in the seam between ribbing, and side of seat. Black carpet is faded a bit, but in good condition. Door panels are ribbed vinyl and show original logos, and window cranks. All crank windows are in good working condition, as well as glass all around. Dash is original, and instruments are working condition. An AM radio straddles the center console as well as temperature controls for heating and venting. An automatic shifter is mounted to the "tree" and selector is clean and accurate. Gas and brake pedals are very good and show little signs of wear. Drivetrain A 230CI inline 6-cylinder OHV original engine is mated with a 2-speed automatic transmission. A frame independent front suspension, and leaf springs in the rear suspension, typical of 1967 pony cars can be seen in good condition. Drum brakes are on all 4 wheels, and brake lines are solid in good condition. This 1967 Introductory year basic Camaro presents very nicely in original well-maintained condition, excepting the aforementioned paint and convertible top. According to codes, the original color was Granada Gold. With little effort this car can be brought back to original color, with no rust or extra bodywork to deal with. Mechanically sound, clean engine compartment, a driver for every day, as well as a classic for a lifetime.
