Vehicle Detail
I have for sale this 1940 Chevy 2 door sedan. A friend of mine purchased it from the son of the owner. The gentleman that owned the car passed away at over 90 years of age, and he had had the car for many years. I purchased it from my friend, and he wrote me a signed receipt. The title is missing. This would be an excellent parts car or perhaps rat rod material. My friend got the car started, and I heard it run, and the motor sounded good. It is an in-line 6 cylinder motor, 3 speed on the column. The clutch does work, and the transmission shifts into gear. The brakes need work. In order to start it, you will need to bring a gas can, a hose, and a good battery. The spring release is broken on the starter, and you have to disengage the starter manually. The car is just hot-wired to start it. All the parts shown are included in the sale. Many of them came from another 1940 Chevy that the same family owned, but it was junked many years ago. As shown in the pictures, there is some frame rust, but with some repair the frame would be usable. The body has some rust as shown in the pictures, and you have to lift up slightly on the doors to get them to latch properly. The trunk pan is rusted below the spare tire. I will supply the successful bidder with a copy of my signed receipt where I purchased it, and I will also sign a receipt. I do not know if the mileage is accurate. This car has been off the road for many years. The car does roll freely. This car does have the original GM key in the ignition. The body tag is still affixed to the firewall on the passenger side under the hood. The style number is 40-1011, and the body number is N11503. I will not ship. If shipping is required, it will be the sole responsibility of the successful bidder to make arrangements. I will help with loading on site. There is a tractor on site if needed. Two forms of payment will be accepted: cash at pickup or a certified bank check. I will not release this vehicle until funds have cleared my bank. In the past, this has taken up to 10 business days. This auction is for US bidders only. Thanks for your interest. Good luck, and happy bidding.
