Vehicle Detail

Summary 1968 Buick Electra Custom 225, all original, one owner, garaged its entire life, and 81K miles. Car is original and complete and can be driven anywhere. There are no known mechanical issues, no rust issues, no body damage, no modifications, and the interior is clean and complete. All power options are working as well. One of the nicest deuce and a quarter’s still in existence. This Buick is a prime example of encompassing all we grew up with back in the 60's. Today this car is your ticket back to your memories and a permission slip into any car show or cruise night in America. And for a car that is continuing to climb in value there is still time to get into them inexpensively enough where it doesn't break the bank in today's economy. This auction is for a very unique classic icon Buick. This is the rare 1968 Buick Electra 225 Custom which had only 10,910 total produced. This Custom 225 is the "top of the line" for Buick and this one has come equipped with more than 18 rare options, putting this one over the top for any Buick collector or any classic automobile collector. Mechanical Engine & Drivetrain: The car drives and shifts perfectly with no slips or jerky hesitations and plenty of power. The 430 engine is strong and has 81K original miles. No noticeable oil drips, no trans drips, no power steering drips on the floor in my garage. The car runs cool and sounds very nice in idle and in acceleration. There are no funny noises from the suspension and the car glides along the highway effortlessly. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Exterior: The exterior of this car is in beautiful condition and can be taken to shows. The factory paint is burgundy and the factory interior color is burgundy. The exterior looks dark, almost black until it’s in the sun where it shimmers with a deep violet. The body is straight and free of any damage and the paint has a deep rich shine with no dents, dings, scratches or rust issues. The vinyl top is original and shows great for its age. All the glass and lights are in excellent condition (no cracks or chips in any glass and lights all work). The floors are solid and all original seams and pinch welds are intact, original and in excellent condition. The trunk is solid, rear quarters are solid with no rust issues. See the pictures of the underneath, solid as well with no rust issues. The original hubcaps shine nicely and the tires are all brand new. Interior: Interior is just about in mint condition. The upholstery, trim and dash are in excellent original condition. There are no cracks on the dash, seats show very little wear, and no rips/sagging in the headliner. This is an unbelievably well-preserved interior of the 60's. All of the power accessories work on the interior including the power bench seat, radio, power antenna, wipers, all four power windows, heat, electric trunk, lights (exterior & interior), and cruise control. The car is equipped with factory ac but it does not blow cold at this time (has not been looked into, could need refrigerant). Background The Buick Electra was introduced to the public in 1959 and carried the brand through 1990 replacing the Roadmaster and Limited models upon introduction. The 225 moniker was added to represent the 225 inch length of the car overall, earning the nickname “deuce and a quarter” by enthusiasts. With styling changes over its 30-year run, it was 1965 when the chassis design went to a perimeter frame, exiting the traditional x-frame used from 1961. This made for a lighter car, and the need for additional tuning to the suspension. For 1968, the entire advertising promotion lead with the Electra being emphasized as the “Tuned Buick”; tuned performance, tuned ride, tuned handling, and most importantly, tuned styling. These cars represent a unique era in Buick production, and are among the best years for late-1960’s American car collectors. Class, style, power, and comfort all rolled into one. These sedans are unique by showcasing its structural soundness with a small pillar between the front & rear doors, leaving the four windows on each door absent of a traditional frame, a very unique feature among 4-door sedans. Standard features on any Electra included the 430 V-8 that was only produced from 1967 until 1969. This engine had a bore of 4.1875 in and a stroke of 3.90 in. The 430 engine was rated at 360 hp and 475 lb·ft of torque. This engine was used in large B-, C- and E-body Buicks. Power steering, power brakes, and additional safety items such as padded dash, reverse lights, front & rear seatbelts, 2-speed windshield wipers with washer system, and additional optional equipment including air conditioning, tilt steering column, power windows, 8-way power seat, Sonomatic AM radio with power antenna, interior courtesy lights, glove box light, day/night rearview mirror, all Soft-Ray tinted glass, door edge guards, and fender skirts. This survivor has all original window glass, all original body panels, all original interior carpet & seating upholstery, original trunk equipment, and all factory chrome & trim. Showing only 81,800 actual miles, this Electra continues to run and drive with exceptional ease. It provides fully operational power accessories, and excellent road manners in all city and highway environments.
