Vehicle Detail

UNRESERVED, for sale by private seller. 1984 Dodge Ram Prospector 1500 4x4 with only 32,188 miles. Full load truck with AIR CONDITIONING, and power windows. Truck located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Because it is over 25 years in age, it is considered "antique" status and free of restrictions for delivery/travel. I suppose the best place to start with this truck would be a chronological sequence describing this truck's semi-interesting history and mileage. It was bought new and used by a farmer and his wife as their go-to-town, groceries-&-errands truck. Eventually, it was replaced by a newer model, and then downgraded to be used for some chores and supplies. Being used only occasionally, the mileage was kept way down. Eventually, the elderly wife passed away, leaving only the husband; who wasn't in great health either. A long term farm-hand/caretaker looked after the farmer and his home, while a live-in nurse did the rest. The farmer eventually went to a care facility, where (as result of stroke) it didn't look like he was going to make it. Eventually, with therapy, he pulled through and was able to come back home. What he found wasn't a happy sight. Several greedy relatives pillaged his belongings. In fact, the grandson even pulled the differentials out of the old Dodge pickup to use in his Jeep project. The truck was left to sit for more years. One of the farmer's neighbours was visiting. He knew about the truck, and it's mileage and, like many times before, had offered to buy it. This time the farmer agreed. The truck was picked up and brought to it's new home, where once again... it was left to sit for more years. The new owner was a fairly busy man and seldom around. He worked in the movie industry, and was on set much of the time. Eventually, he decided it was time to get the old Dodge (a classic by this time) up and going. He sourced a set Dana 60 front/rear differentials from a low mile Cummins and had them installed. He enjoyed the truck briefly but, was smitten by another project, and another, and another. I heard of this truck several years prior to our purchase, and seen it twice. I made him an offer, and he accepted. Condition:When we got the truck, it was a mess. I'm a bit picky but, I think most people would have agreed... It needed a thorough shampooing. Obviously, it had sat a very long time. I had it thoroughly cleaned professionally. Afterwards, I sent it to a mechanic. Because of years of sitting, it needed a good fuel system cleaning, and a variety of seals replaced, and some tuning. Being used on a farm, it was a utilitarian vehicle. There are scuffs and marks. I don't know if it were from usage, or occurred during the time it was sitting. In any regard, during the clean-up and detailing, I had most touched up and buffed a bit. It looks good but, certainly not mint. I will try detail most everything I can think of:One chrome tail light bezel broken. Replaced with mismatch.Front bumper "tweaked"Windshield has crack horizontally, with another one or two branching vertically. One headlight burned out. Will need rear u-joint.Thin cotton headliner beginning to sag from the backing and should be re-adhered (contact cement spray?).One small horizontal bar in the plastic grill insert is broken.2 small exterior corner accent moldings missing black rubber centre section. General information:This truck is quite BIG. It really sits fairly high. I don't know how much lift it has with the big springs and the larger Cummins perches but, it can easily fit 35" tires. I bought some wheels, and 35" Dick Cepek Fun Country II tires. Then, I re-decided and was going to go with 37" tires. In the end, I lost interest and, well.... that brings us here. What you have is a ridiculously low mileage truck. It's got some character to it sure, but... what a neat history and cool truck. Sale description and specifics:We're moving, and I'm clearing out. We've sold 15+ vehicles here on eBay in the last 2 years and this is it. No more. I was going to use this as our acreage truck but, in all honesty, I don't really need one and that's just an excuse to keep something else I really don't need. I've got too much stuff already, and as neat as this truck is, I really need to clear stuff out. I'm listing this unreserved and as soon as I hit the "list item" button, there's no turning back. To make certain there's no misunderstandings, I'm selling this as a 1/10 project truck requiring everything. Obviously it isn't but, for sake of this unreserved auction, it is a salvage junker. I don't want to get into semantics about whether it's a 7/10 or 8/10. Perspectives vary. All I want is a nice and simple sale. To say that I don't care about money would be a misnomer. Of course I'd like to sell for top dollar but, in this circumstance, it's best just to make sure the truck is gone, somebody else is happy, and know we've done our best to ensure it goes smoothly to it's new home. That being said, my wife has gotten pretty decent at arranging shipping. She'll help set everything up for you. Procedure:We have had excellent success with a little system. It goes as follows:After auction, we ask for your buyer's information. You supply. We fill in transfer papers and scan/send to you. You confirm spelling and information correct. You go to your bank, and make transfer. We validate receipt. We begin on shipping, keeping you informed every step. You receive your cool vintage truck, leave us another fabulous feedback, and begin to enjoy tinkering with fat new tires, etc. We're not interested in Paypal deposits or anything. If you want this truck, I'm sure you want it. It's fairly unique. I'll be very disappointed if someone isn't genuine with their bid but, I think that anyone knowing what this is will see the value and step up. Our procedure is simple. Besides 3 main things (information, payment, delivery), it focuses heavily on clear and concise back/forth volley of communication. That's important. I realize I'm somewhat the anti-salesman and have taken strides to heavily under-represent this vehicle. That's fine. Of importance to us right now is a smooth sale to a genuine buyer. Somebody will get a heck of a deal.... If you are bidding, please be serious as I am and understand our adherence to this little system/procedure. It's to help both of us. If, for any reason, you cannot adhere to this procedure, please let us know BEFORE BIDDING. OR, if you are new to eBay or have zero-feedback record, please contact us first to let us know you understand and are genuine. Listing something unreserved can be a big risk. At least please be serious about bidding.
