Vehicle Detail
For sale is a a very elusive 1940 Hudson series 40C pickup truck. A true, solid and rare, Barn Find. Hudson commercial vehicle production (including station wagons, trucks, panel trucks, and other utility vehicles) was less in one year than the larger truck manufacturers produced each month. 1940 is the first year of the overall body "shape" which lasted through the end of regular production for factory-made Hudson pickups in 1947. This is also the first year for an under-bed mounted spare tire for Hudson trucks. Truck features a 3-speed manual transmission, 3/4-ton capacity rating, 212 cubic inch six-cylinder engine, a 90" bed length, and a style you won't find in many other vehicles, especially trucks, from most any time period. This particular truck features a very solid frame (not rusted out like many Hudson trucks, victims to collected sand and debris from hard use and few washes) and spent most of its life NOT in Northern MN, where it currently presides. Truck was purchased out of Indiana by me with help from friends a few years back with the intentions of fixing it up...though I've come to the realization that I need to focus my efforts on fewer vehicles. Running condition of the truck is unknown, though I was told by a previous owner that it has been running withing the last 5 years or so. The fluids look good and the motor is not seized. The body was in the process of being restored but never finished, and has sat in primer for some time. Patch panels are evident, but the truck is really quite solid. Floors could use some patching, and are soft in places, but are not so bad that the cab needs to come off. I believe I have all the chrome pieces for the grille, as well as some extra parts which are included in the sale. Please see photos for details and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions whatsoever. Truck rolls and steers great, tires hold air, I can help load on your trailer with a tractor. The interior is aged, but very usable. Door panels don't look bad and the seat is solid. Headliner is absent but top bows, wood pieces, and interior light are all there. Check out my other auctions! Thank you for your interest, tell your friends, and call anytime, 612-212-8083 Cash only sale. Clear MN title in my name. No funny business please. On Jun-08-18 at 14:05:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for all of the interest and questions! Included in the sale is a factory-original truck-only front bumper with two bumperettes and mounting hardware in great shape. For rear bumpers, Hudson trucks did not come originally equipped with them. Only a sheet metal panel and single tail light hung below the box. However, I will include a custom rear bumper with the sale. The tailgate is in fantastic shape and open, closes, and latches (hooks) nicely. On Jun-10-18 at 16:31:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for all the interest in the truck! A commercial car hauler will be able to access the truck and my other cars for sale without issue. I have a tractor here and if need be we can load the truck in our street, which is never busy with traffic. The doors and hinges on this 1940 Hudson are rock solid. No give at all even when pulled up an down while open. And they latch and close perfectly. I have all the grille pieces I also have another 1940 Hudson, a 8cyl business coupe which is fairly complete, which I would offer the buyer of this truck the option of purchasing parts off if they might be interested.
