Vehicle Detail
1965 Oldsmobile F-85/442 Project Olds was a long term project featured in 2010 Popular Hot Rodding Magazine. It’s a 1965 Oldsmobile F-85/442 clone, post car. The car was built for a autocross and fun cruisering , which it does very well. The Olds has complete Detroit Speed A body suspension with Viking coil over shocks. The suspension was DSE’s speed kit 3 that includes: Front: • Tubular Upper Control Arms • Tubular Lower Control Arms • DSE Forged 2" Drop Spindle • Coilover Springs • DSE Splined Front Anti-Roll Bar • DSE 600 Steering Gear with Rag Joint • DSE Tubular Tie Rod Adjusters • Inner and Outer Tie Rod Ends with Idler Arm Rear: Speed Kit 3 • Patented Swivel-Link™ Rear Control Arms • DSE Chassis Brace Kit • DSE Tubular Rear Anti-Roll Bar The car uses Baer T4 brakes with 13” rotors and their SS4 system on the rear with 12.5” rotors. Rearend is a Strange S60 with 35 spline axles and 3:73 gears. Engine is a built 461 cubic inch Oldsmobile built by School of Automotive Machinists. It has stock crank, JE pistons, Eagle Rods, Comp Cam cam shaft (COMP Xtreme Energy 240/246-at-.050 hydraulic flat-tappet cam), Edelbrock Heads, that had been ported by SAM to flow an additional 50 cfm. Topping that is a Eldelbrock Torker intake with Holley 750 carb. The engine made 525 hp and 540 ft/lbs on the engine dyno. Mezerie electric water pump and Custom AFCO Radiator with 2 11in Spal fans for the cooling system. Exhaust are Hooker headers that exit a custom Hooker exhaust and Aerochamber mufflers. Exhaust was built by The Roadster Shop. It also has been upgraded to a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed conversation from Hurst Driveline conversions. Olds sits on BFG Rivals, 245-40-18 front, 275-35-18 rear on Rocket Racing Booster series wheels, 18x8in front and 18x9in rear. Seats have been upgraded to Pro Car elite series buckets. The dash was redone by Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle with Autometer Ultralite II gauges, new package tray, and glove box. The Olds also has the II Much Fabrication Fuel vent and also their differential vent. VFN fiberglass bumpers were added for weight reduction. Sale of car will include the original bumpers and all the hardware. Olds uses Ring Brothers hood hinges, hood adjusters and fender hardware and Clayton Machine Pedals. The car has been driven to and from events such as Motorstate Challenge, Faceoff at Road America, SCCA Autocross, GoodGuys Autocross, Came in first in under 200 tread wear class at the Motorstate Challenge in 2012, when on Nitto NT O1’s. Car isn't a real 442. All work had been done by credible shops for the articles, including Performance Restorations, Hot Rod Chassis and Cycles, D&Z Customs, Roadster Shop, School of Automotive Machinist, West Bend Dyno Tuning and Ring Bros. Car can be seen and has to be picked up in Central California. You can send an inspector if you need.
