Vehicle Detail

I am continuing to thin my herd. My wife say we have too many projects. I am selling my 1957 Chevy Corvette. I purchased it as a barn find last winter. Last summer I got it running and re-did the brakes. It is running and driving. We just had our spring festival here in Pella called Tulip Time. There are 6 parades over 3 days, each lasting about an hour. I ran the car in all six parades and put over 100 miles on it. It ran perfect. It never got over 180 degrees. The oil pressure never dipped below 30 pounds. The speedometer, oil pressure gauge, fuel gauge, the ammeter, the temperature gauge, and the tach all work great. I redid the back brakes last summer and put front disk brakes on as well with a dual chamber master cylinder. All of the original parts to convert it back to front drum brakes are included with the car to the winning buyer. It runs down the road straight and doesn't pull on hard braking. It starts and runs great. It does not use oil or have any significant leaks. The radiator is a new aluminum unit, made to look like the original. The original was shot. It has a new fuel tank and sending unit. It has a new fuel pump. All of the lights work except for one of the rear license plate lights and the right front turn signal. The car was owned by the same family from 1959 to last year. It sat in a garage from 1970 until last year. The chassis only has 50,030 miles on it. I have included pictures of the oil change stickers on the driver's side kick panel showing the mileage over the years. On 4/4/59 it had 15,410 miles on it. On 1/14/63 it had 37,212 miles on it. On 7/16/70 it had 49,446 miles on it. I bought it with 49,806 miles on it. The original 283 and 3 speed manual transmission are missing. I am assuming it was a three speed manual from the VIN. Its too early a car to have been a 4 speed. The body has the Fuel Injection badging but I do not know if it was originally a Fuelie. It currently has a 300 horse 327 and a M20 4 speed in it. The pad code on the engine is F0728EC. The VIN is 5K217871 and matches the transmission VIN. The block is a 3858174 casting. It runs absolutely great with tons of power. It had a fresh tune up last year. The frame is solid with no rust holes. The underside is dirty, greasy, and there is surface rust on most of the metal components, but it is solid. The body was originally black but it was painted burgundy in the 60s and most of that has been sanded off. It looks to have had some light damage to the right fender at some point and has been repaired. There is no visible frame damage. The pervious owners have removed the top fender scoops as well as the rear vertical bumpers and filled the holes. The front grill does have a crack at the top right side but appears repairable. I am including several NOS badges, NOS parts, and extra new reproduction parts including new cove chrome. I have included pictures of the extra parts. The body needs a good amount of work but it is definitely repairable. The nice thing about this one is you can paint it whatever color you like since it needs paint and body work anyway. The interior was factory red. It still carries the original door panels and the original carpet on the trans hump. I think the seat covers have been replaced with 56 Vette seats. I have included pictures of the original seat tag. The seat covers may have been replaced in the past. Either way, the seats are nice. The steering wheel has some cracks. The dash has been cut for a larger radio. It currently has no radio. The side glass is good but there is a small chip in the windshield. The original trunk mat and trunk board are with the car. I didn't put in a picture of the mat, but it is red. There is no spare. The wheels and tires are aftermarket. It does have both tops. The soft top is white and needs replaced. It is old and brittle. The hard top looks to be from a later year, possible 1958 or 1959 but it is included. The back window is broken. It also needs a restoration. So basically I am selling a nice restorable 1957 Corvette that runs and drives. I got tons of compliments on it this weekend at the local parades, just as you see it. You can drive and enjoy it as it is, or restore it how ever you like. Its a solid car and is a great runner. They only made 6,339 1957 Corvettes. This is number 1439. How many are left out there that you can build how you want? You can go with the NCRS type restoration, do a resto-mod, or somewhere in the middle. The choice is up to you! NO RESERVE. Please message, text, or call with questions. 641-569-3045. I have done my best to list it honestly but I am sure I have left out details, some would find important. My 100% feedback is important to me. I want you to be satisfied with the car when you get. Keep in mind this is a 61 year old car needing a full restoration. It is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Please come and inspect it or send an agent to inspect it. Buyer to pay shipping and arrange shipping. Payment is to be cash in person, Cashier's check, or wire transfer. I can hold the car for a reasonable time until it can be picked up. Non-refundable deposit of $500 to be paid via PayPal within 72 hours.
