Vehicle Detail
1958 Ford Fairlane, 4 door Sedan with the Country Club Trim. It was restored about 12 years ago to a good driving level, new paint, and interior. Currently it has seat covers as the restored seat material is not doing all that well. The engine was completely rebuilt and the 332 CI Interceptor motor (Factory 265 HP) 4 barrel carburetor, was bored to 358 CI and new pistons and all new bearings, ....everything...., was performed by a certified mechanic. And the 2 speed aautomatic transmission was fully rebuilt. Only about 1500 miles has been put on it since the total mechanical rebuild, which cost approximately $7,000. This car had only a little over 70,000 miles when rebuilt. It is not a pristine show car, however, it is a real looker and attention grabber. It gets more compliments than a Corvette! It is ready to drive and will .......well after leaving folks in the dust , I have seen them later and they ask me what in the ......... do I have under the hood! I installed dual glass packs and it has a race car rumble-clap, although it has the original cam and is a puppy dog at idle & low RPM. The pictures speak for themselves, & yes there are imperfections & it was never turn table restored. The door panels are original and it is amazing the door handles all still work and the original keys work in the original locks! No, all the instruments don't work or the AM radio. It has decent Tiger Paw tires and the original wheel covers! One more thing, I did not inherit this car, however, I rode in it in 1958 when it was new, as it was bought new by my Grandaddy who passed away the same month and year the JFK did in 1963. A cousin of mine got his keys and I remember him scaring me to death as he put the needle past 120mph and buried out of sight!
