Vehicle Detail
2001 Jeep Cherokee 60th Anniversary Edition I recently moved to the east coast and unfortunately will not be able to drive my XJ for the foreseeable future so I’ve decided to put it on the market in hopes that someone else can enjoy it. I have built multiple Jeeps but this one is by far the most capable and over $40k invested no expense was spared during the build. All service is up to date and the rear main seal was recently replaced. The 6-speed transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch is firm. The wheels and tires have less than 400 miles on them. Everything from the engine back has been replaced underneath the Jeep. The original 123830 mile engine runs smooth and has great oil pressure (35-40 at idle when warm and 40-50 when driving). Except for the rear seat and plastics, the interior has be completely redone. It has all new door seals and door pulls. The suspension is correctly bumpstopped and fully adjustable (including ride height – currently set to +5.5”) with only the best high quality components. It has always been trailered and garage kept during my ownership. If you're looking for a Jeep thats ready for Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, this is the Jeep for you. This unique XJ is trail tested and ready to tackle just about anything you can throw at it! The vehicle was not damaged and has a straight unibody and uniframe. Air-conditioning system is currently low on charge. It does work when charged and lasted most of the summer last time I charged it. Navigation on the RB1 is currently disabled. Navigation requires a piggyback WJ PCM to work and the wiring is ready to hook up under the driver seat. I previously had one wired up and the nav worked as it should. This Jeep was built to offroad and has done so. The steel bumpers do have some missing paint on the very bottom edge from sliding down rocks. There are a few scratches on the wheels. There is also one scratch on the right rear door fender flare. Otherwise the body is damage and dent free! The check engine light is currently on due to loss of communication with the automatic transmission computer (obviously there is no automatic transmission for it to see). This can be remedied by installing a manual transmission PCM. I recently discovered a random loss of power at highway speed (it happens every once in a while) that is easily fixed by turning the ignition off then back on. The fault is electrical in nature and I suspect either a faulty CPS or throttle position sensor. I rarely drive long distances at highway speed thus it has been a non-issue for me and I have not troubleshot further. Disclaimer: While it does exhibit good on-road manners (soft suspension, tight steering, insanely good brakes, and relatively smooth ride), this Jeep was specifically built for 90% trail driving. The 5.13 gears are great for offroading but require high engine RPM to maintain highway speed. The tires are bias-ply and flatspot very easily especially in cold weather (they round out once warmed up). And there is currently a main cat delete installed (both pre-cats aft of the header are installed and are brand new). If you plan on buying this Jeep for mostly city driving, it is my recommendation that you re-gear to a more desirable street ratio (4.10’s or 4.56’s would be perfect), find a more streetable tire, and install the missing catalytic converter. This Jeep is sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied.
