Vehicle Detail

If you are a Corvette purist like me, then this is the car for you. This is a 4-speed 1972 2-top Convertible that has been garaged and cared for its entire life. It is a rust free California car. No-hit body original paint in Steel Cities Gray still looks good for its age. It retains it “born with” drive train of engine, transmission and rear. Actual mileage appears to be 80,987 based on service records. The spare tire is original and never been used. The battery is new. Original documentation includes the POP, original dealer inspection form, original dealer prepared state inspection, owner’s manual, GM California Central directory, GM 1972 smog information and GM Consumer information pamphlet. Also included is thye NCRS shipping report. Additional documentation includes some service records that go back over 20 years to the original owner. I found the original owner of 26 years still in California and he was gracious enough to send me photos of the car when new. It appears from the records that the engine was rebuilt 8000 miles ago that included a refresh of the transmission and a new clutch.I do have the complete owner history and contact information. The second owner passed away at 45 but I spoke with his daughter. Since the car had not been driven much in the last 14 years, I have installed new pads, calipers, brake lines and correct reproduction master cylinder. Also I replaced the water pump with the correct dated water pump. The fuel pump and rubber lines were replaced as well. It received a good tune up and included replacing the points in the original distributor with internal electronics so you can not tell it has been converted. I also installed new BF Goodrich tires on the original dated ralley wheels. I replaced the power steering control valve with a rebuilt original. The front end has been gone through including control arm bushings, correct repro tie rod ends and idler arm. It was then taken to the alignment shop where everything was set to specs. The rear snubber was replaced. The car drives amazingly well especially with its 3:36 rear gear. The convertible top is like new. The interior is really nice considering most all is original to the car. The seat covers and seat foam were replaced. The original jack and handle appear to have never been used and as previously stated, the spare is new with the nubs still on it. The previous owners of this car really cared for it as evidenced by not only its condition but the fact the original radio was replaced “to have a cassette player” but the original radio is in a box with the knobs, the original steel valve covers were updated to LT-1 covers and the originals are in a box and when someone decided to remove the super rare California smog system, it was all placed in a box along with it’s drive belt. I have been told it would be $2500 to replace that alone. It is complete. I have had offers to purchase it and the spare with rim but all will stay with the car!All items are in great condition. Issues to be addressed are all minor. The clock does not work, the ammeter works sometimes, the intake manifold has a VERY MINOR oil leak and a lifter on number 3 apparently does not hold pressure only when hot. I have purchased two lifters and plan to change them when replacing the intake manifold gasket which I have purchased. I have been driving the car to numerous car shows and cruising around and just haven’t addressed the leak and tick because both are so minor. The reverse lockout cable had a kink in it and I have a replacement but left it off since I don’t care for that feature. It is easy to re-install. The speedometer cable was noisy so it has been replaced with the correct reproduction. Everything else works including the aftermarket radio, wiper (new blades), lights (NOS low beam correct T-3’s), alarm system, buzzer, horn, turn signals, etc. The bottom line is you can now get in this car and drive it anywhere feeling safe. Unlike some sellers, I try to provide an accurate description of anything I sell. I have priced the car at a very fair price and don’t “have to” sell the car so please don’t insult me with low ball offers. Please contact me with any questions you may have. Please keep in mind this car has its scratches and nicks as you expect on an original car. However, people at the car shows it has been at just rave over its condition for its age. If you are not familiar with this original color, it is like a silver green.
