Vehicle Detail

Please read all details before bidding or sending questions. I reserve the option of rejecting bids from buyers with no or limited or negative ratings, or from the guy that flaked before. thanksPlease also note that I am re-listing this car because of a 'buyer' that spent two weeks telling me over 10 times that he would have the second half of his initial deposit at an agreed-upon time, and then blowing through that time. After 10 separate agreed times and failures I had had enough. So this time I need to stress the following:Questions asking what my 'reserve' is (I do not have one), what I 'really' want for it, or what cash offer I'll take for it will not be answered. I just want to let the auction run its course and will live with the results. That is the only way to be fair to all bidders. There is a $1,000 deposit required within 24 hours of the winning bid, and given my past experience this is non-negotiable.I highly recommend viewing the car in person. Also, even if you read the ad before, please read it again, as I updated it here and there. Finally, this is a car for someone with deep pockets, mad skills, or access to someone with mad skills, and a grand vision. Good luck with your bidding! 1970 Dodge Charger 500 Plum Crazy Sunroof Only 170 Dodge Chargers of all trim levels were equipped with a factory electric sunroof. And just a few of those were Plum Crazy cars. This one also came with a white interior and vinyl top, making it one of the flashiest Chargers of 1970!The car comes only as shown, and does not include any parts that you cannot see in the pictures. The description below is of how the car was equipped at the factory, not how it is today. Although the trim tag and title are missing (ebay does not have a 'missing' option in their title listing section), the car is very original and we have determined that it is clearly an original Plum Crazy car, and came with white bucket seats and a buddy seat, 318 automatic with column shift, 3 speaker dash, manual brakes and power steering. With some further verification of things like molding trim, etc, the car is original enough to make a new trim tag. Given the base nature of the engine and trans, this would be just to document how the car came originally if many mods are planned. To me the highest and best use of this car, given the extremely desirable color combination and sunroof, is, if not restored dead stock, to build a car with a modern hemi and trans, but with a stock or day 2 look. In that form I think it could be one of the nicest, most valuable and striking mild restomod cars around. (Please note that I am not a professional body man) The condition of the body ranges from quite good at the front to really bad at the back. It appears that all panels on the car are original. Parts that are usable (by this I mean worth repairing and refinishing) include the front bumper and grill assembly, excellent front valance, hood, fenders, very good doors, and nice glass. The condition of the floors is shown in the photos – they need patch panels but are better than many. The areas around the front and rear windows are better than most restoration projects as well. The car sits on 14” rallye wheels with good tires. The sunroof panel is rusted, but it is a simple single ply piece that is easily patched. Then things get ugly. The rear of the car will need at least new rockers, full quarters, trunk floor, tail panel, deck lid, and frame rails, which are bad enough at the rear that the rear axle is connected only where the springs attach at the front, not the back. (front frame rails are good, but left front needs a patch). All of these items are available through AMD – please don’t settle for less. The steering column is locked and there is no key. I disconnected the front tie rod ends to make it possible to turn the wheels. This means, though, that when winching onto a trailer you have to correct the wheels every few feet or so. The car is registered on the Charger Sunroof Registry. This, along with the 1970 Charger Registry, are great places to get more information on these cars. There is someone on the Sunroof Registry that can get reproduction cables, seals, and other parts to restore the factory operation of the sunroof. I bought this car for my son, but he rightfully is continuing to finish his 1971 Challenger and wants to focus his time and money on that, so I now am selling it for him. No reserve and the starting price is set at less than some 1970 Chargers that have sold recently on ebay that are in much worse condition, do not have a sunroof, and do not have desirable paint/interior combinations. When the auction was pulled the bidding was at $4,650 with 3 days to run. I thus am entering a starting price of $4,500. The car is located in Dripping Springs, Texas, about 15 miles west of Austin.
