Vehicle Detail
Overview: A very solid, complete, and drivable 1966 Pontiac GTO. Fresh 400, 4 speed manual transmission, with and 3:55 12 bolt posi rear end. PHS documented. Very clean with a lot of new parts and desirable/rare options. With most/all of the metal complete, this strong driver is almost ready for paint. Excellent winter project that doesn't need a lot of work to get it to the next level. Engine/Drive Train: Not numbers matching, this car originally came with a 389, 3-speed manual transmission, and a 3:55 posi rear end. Today it has completely rebuilt 400 (40 over) with less than 50 miles on it, a 4-speed manual Muncie (M20 wide radio) transmission, and a very desirable 3:55 12 BOLT posi rear end (correct narrow Chevy). New Hurst Competition Plus shifter, new control arms, bushings, and thick rear sway-bar. It has power steering, a new power brake booster and master cylinder. Holley street dominator intake, new Edelbrock carburetor (4bbl) 750 with electric choke, and HEI. New starter, alternator, belts, hoses, battery, heater core, etc. Interior: Originally parchment, the interior is currently black. The buckets have the rare headrest option and are in excellent condition (too nice to recover in my opinion). Dash pad is mint. New carpet and door sill plates. Vintage tachometer. Needs door panels and arm rests, but it does come with all of the interior door chrome, and ash trays, handles, etc. Door windows and all mechanisms are in great shape. Includes new door and window weather-stripping. I don't have the original interior. Body/Frame: Originally burgundy, this car is very solid with an excellent frame and newer suspension. Most if not all of the metal work has been completed, but some still needs to be ground, blocked and sanded. New hood, quarters, passenger fender, and inner passenger wheel well. Solid floors. Newer 3-piece floor. New brakes. New Flow master 2 1/2" dual exhaust and tips (sounds great with the deep cam). Re-chromed original bumpers (show quality). Rally II rims. New front windshield. Comes with all of the window chrome. New engine, headlight, and taillight harnesses. Newer taillight bezels (original housings and lenses). This 52 year old car is very far along, but the restoration is not complete. Some little things may not work, like the wipers, horn, blinkers, etc. I never got around to testing everything, so the buyer probably shouldn't expect every single thing to work like a fully restored call. Mechanically it is sound and drives great! Compared to others on the market, it is one of the better ones you could hope to find at this stage. I encourage anyone who is truly interested to ask questions and see it in person if possible. Good luck! IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: This car is located in Minnesota, local pickup only.
