Vehicle Detail
This 250 Trophy has 4535 miles on the still working, original Smiths speedometer. The bike is unrestored. Starts right up and runs well. The tires are also original Dunlop Trials Universal. Front - 3.25 x 19, Rear- 4.00 x 18. No rips or cracks in the seat. Lights work. New battery. Very Rare Exhaust Pipe, is original and in good condition. The paint on the front and rear fenders may or may not be original. The silver lines are not perfect. The paint is not as smooth as on the fuel tank. BUT... if they were ever repainted, the question is WHY, when everything else is still original. The dirt around the fender braces looks like it has been there forever. The underside of the fenders is painted the original color and looks original. Does NOT look like they were ever taken off.I'm going for original paint on the fenders, but it is worth while to mention. There is a chip in the paint on the gas tank, shown in photos. There is very little rust inside the tank, no problem with flaking or blocking jet. Petcocks do NOT leak. Carb has no leaks. A couple of tickles & a kick or two starts this bike right up. The wheel rims have some rust & front hub has surface rust. I cleaned one spot, on the hub looks good. Front fork boots are torn. The fork seals do not leak. Handlebars and controls have some, expected, rust. Clean oil in the tank. The head gasket leaks a bit, so there is oil on the left side cylinder fins. No compression loss. I left this as is, in the photos, so you can see exactly what your buying. This bike is fun to ride, runs good. It looks exactly like an original condition, ridden, 1968 Trophy 250, should look like. I just scored a third place trophy in the un-restored class, British bikes, at the Famous, Groton NY, Bike Show. Offered as a no reserve auction. Buyer is responsible for pick up. However... after payment is received, I can assist is shipping, loading, or even delivering the bike. Let me know what I can do to help. Thanks for looking.
