Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1957 Chevy Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop Sport Coupe (Model number 57-1037D) with a California frame. This is a Barn Find (actually it was in a 3 sided shed behind a garage but Barn Find sounds so much better than Shed Find!). This is a very solid project car with very minimal rust. I have a lot of photos of the underside of the car when I had it on the lift doing the brake job. There is very little rust. I believe it is all repairable without having to replace any panels except, maybe the drivers front floor pan. If I were going to repair it, I would use the POR15 and the mat that they sell to use with it. I have used it in the past with very good success. The biggest hole anywhere is a hole in the inside of the passenger rocker panel in a flat area that is about the size of a fist. It will be very easy to repair. This Bel Air is powered by a 327/300HP V8 engine along with a Muncie 4 speed transmission. I recently found 2 of these 57 Bel Air hardtops where they had been sitting side by side in this shed for, I was told, more than 25 years. They looked almost like twins. Both vehicles can be seen in the first photo. The owner, a garage owner, told me that he had rebuilt the Muncie 4 speed transmission at a cost of $1000 just before he parked it. It has 69 -72 Chevelle Bucket seats in the front and the original back seat. He had started taking the chrome off of it to repaint it before he parked it and just never did get back around to working on it any more. I inventoried all of the parts and have found almost nothing missing. All of the outside chrome is there except for an emblem on the hood. I have installed most of the outside chrome on the car to make it show better. The center section of the rear bumper is a Station Wagon bumper, that way, you can take the license plate off of the trunk lid and put it down on the bumper. There is almost no rust at all in the car. I have just finished installing a complete new brake system including a rebuilt master cylinder, 4 new wheel cylinders, all new brake shoes, 3 new brake hoses, 2 new front wheel seals and had all 4 of the brake drums turned. I also installed a new gas tank and sending unit. The outside was originally Dusk Pearl with black and silver interior. I have just recently gotten it running and driving around. The engine sounds super and the transmission shifts just like it is suppose to. It comes with an old but clear South Carolina title. This is a great project and one of the most awesome cars when restored that you will ever see! Give me a call at 1-864-313-2908 so we can talk about this awesome car. I can arrange shipping at your expense. In the last 50 years, I have shipped cars to almost every state in the United States and 33 foreign countries. I will only accept a $500 deposit with paypal. The balance must be paid in cash, or by official verifiable bank funds or bank to bank wire transfer. I have the cars advertised locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. Remember, the best time in the world to purchase the vehicle you really like is BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES. Don't miss out on this project.
