Vehicle Detail

1980 CB900C Good condition with a lot of work done. Carbs: One of the o-rings in the fuel tee that connects the carburetors had cracked from old age, causing the carbs to drip gas. In order to replace these, you must disassemble the carbs completely off the rack. Keihin carbs are a bit different from Mikuni in that you have to remove a choke shaft that connects all the carbs, which requires removing the choke plates on the intake side of the carbs. This involves carefully removing and replacing the screws that hold on the choke plates without damaging the shaft. Since I was in there, I decided to do a complete rebuild with new o-rings, jets and jet needle, all stock sizing. I have a commercial ultrasonic cleaner and I cleaned all bodies and all parts, and blew them out with compressed air. Diaphragms were good. I replaced the accelerator pump. I also did a bypass of the air cut-off valves, which is recommended Honda forums. I bench synchronized and then vacuum balanced the carbs once back on the bike. The are good to go and run great. Air filter: replaced with new. Front tire: replaced with new Shinko Tourmaster, matching the rear tire. Spin balanced. Brakes: front master cylinder reservoir was leaking where the rubber o-ring holds on the reservoir. I replaced the o-ring and it is now leak free. I also disassembled and cleaned the front brakes as one of them started binding. I replaced all the seals and cleaned the internals of the bore on each caliper. The pistons looked great, so I reused those. I replaced the brake pads with new EBC semi-metallic pads. I bled the brakes with fresh fluid and they are now good to go. Fork seals: replaced with All Balls after market seals, but, these appear not to fit 100% correctly. They are still weeping just a bit more fork Oil than I'd like, but should not require immediate attention. I am sick of working on it, but I wanted to point it out for full disclosure. I don't plan to get back in there, so I will let the next owner handle that if they want to. I would recommend Honda seals. About $250 all in at the garage if you don't want to do yourself. Oil: engine oil changed, transmission and shaft oil changed. Good to go. Cosmetically, the pictures tell a the story. It looks really good with the right patina for its age. I would say excellent overall with a few age marks. Chrome is excellent - fenders and and original pipes are excellent, dent free. The windjammer fairing is about the most wind protection you can ask for, also in good condition. It is like riding in a convertible, almost no turbulence. Can be removed if you choose, but why remove that bit of awesome engineering? Comes with a rack (not pictured) and a service manual. The engine is really strong and appears to have a lot of life in it. Shifts and runs great. All electrics work as they should. Battery is recent. Not sure if I missed something, but let me know through email and I can write you back or call you. A good value at my list price - I just want it gone to make room for something to work on this winter. Thank for looking. I am located just north of Milwaukee. Even most of the Harley guys give me the nod on this thing. I'm a Harley guy myself. You must pick up or arrange shipping. I will not ship it, despite what the ebay ad might say.
