Vehicle Detail
I am testing the waters so here is the story on this Monte Carlo. I bought this car 6 years ago for 10k. It was a SS tribute car that someone installed a 454 4sp and painted black. Just a FYI the car started life as a yellow sbc auto. After a few week of owning the car I decided to fix or upgrade a few things. Well to say the least I went overboard. I dropped thousand in the car over the last 6 years over 15k for a total of 25k plus. I never really dialed everything in.I kind of lost interest in it. So here is a list of what I did Body- Car was resprayed Black again professionally a few years ago, Paint in very nice Firewall was smoothed out (was a AC car, AC was removed before I got the car) New Plastic inner fender wells New aftermarket heater New chrome front bumper New Chrome rear New rear taillight chrome Interior- Front Buckets reupholstered/new head rest New lower Dash New dash pad cover Rebuilt console/ with new chrome New headliner New carpet New dyno matt New door rest and chrome Motor: 496 Stroker crate Motor GM 2-bolt block Scat 4.250" 2 piece rear seal 6.135" GM rods Speed Pro coated hypereutectic pistons Static compression ratio is 9:1. The camshaft .561"/.578" lift and duration at .050" is 236/246. Heads-GM castings with the BIG oval ports GM Racing Dist. Fuel management- FI tech 600hp throttle body FI tech under hood sump pump (Fuel Pump) fuel command center Exhaust- Hooker headers 3in Dual 3 in aluminized exhaust 3 chamber Flow Master Mufflers Trans: Bellhousing – Lakewood shatterproof bell Saginaw 4sp.-Rebuilt by Amoco Transmissions and with heave duty imput shaft and gears Hurst shifter Mcleod-ceramic 600ft torque clutch Rear- 10bolt Posi with 273 gears (Also comes with 410s) Suspension Rear-QA1 500p 12way adjustable coil overs Front BBC springs with 2in Hotchison sway bar I have not taken the car on any long trips. I drive it locally every once in a while. The few times I drove the car it was a blast. It needs driven and dialed in. The motor runs very strong and temp runs about 180-190 the car shifts well. The timing needs adjusted. I would suggest having the car dyno tuned and dialed in properly before driving. The Car needs warmed up to 180 before the FI ECM takes over. After that it is smooth sailing. I have the documentation for the FI Tech system and there tech support is one of the best. The car handles great for a 72. All the suspension upgrades were well worth it. I feel if someone took a weekend and dial in the timing and tweaked the FI system they would have one heck of a street car. The FI tech system only has a few hundred miles and motor/trans only has less than 1k on it. Quick summary of what needs attention on the car Dash lights do not work properly. (They are on a toggle switch) Tach is not hooked up Timing needs set (I installed a New GM High-performance Dist. And never set the timing proper. I planned on having the car dyno tuned but lost interest.) The rear Gears need changed. I had 410 in it. They were to low for the 4sp. I bought a set of gears thinking they were 308. Turned out they were 273, I put them in the car. They are way too high. The car needs a 308 or 355 gear. The torque curve for the motor is 1800-6000. Please ask question, as you know the car will be sold as is where is. I would like a none refundable 1000.00 via pay pal to show good faith of purchasing the car. I would like the rest in cash when you come and get the car. You are responsible for picking it up within 7 days after auction.
