Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle 5speed DIESEL. 150xxx miles. Which is nothing for an ALH engine. There are ALHs with well over 500k on them. Just change the oil every 10k and change the timing belt every 100k.This car has had a lot of work done to it. Every important maintenance item has been done, and done right. Any work I couldn't (or didn't want to do) has been performed by a TDI guru. Good:New water pump with metal impeller. New timing belt with correctly set dynamic timingNew glow plugs and harness.EGR block off completed. EGR cooler removed and coolant bypass installed. Intake cleaned of all buildup. New batteryNew WindshieldNew wipers4 new tires4 wheel alignment. New brake pads on all 4 wheels.New tail lights (have stocks if you want them. Bulb melted housing a little so replaced.) New fuel and oil filter. K&N air filter cleaned. Comes with trailer hitch and new sprint 520 Injector nozzles. (Not installed, if you want them installed we can work something out) The bad:Previous owner side swiped a curb with the passenger side lower when he skidded on ice. Doesn't affect the car, but it's there. Headliner starting to fall at edge by passenger grab handle. Fuel door release doesn't work. But it's easy enough to pull up. Not necessary to run, but to give you a heads up on what it needs to be perfect: New AC compressor. An EGR delete tune to clear the check engine light. I can get this done, but the cost goes up $300 (actual cost, not making money) No other codes thrownNew speakers for the stereo. Sounds like 1 is blown, and another isn't working at all. I don't listen to the radio when I'm driving( I know, I'm weird) so I haven't worried about it. Back light for the hvac controls is out. It works, just hard to see at night. Car runs and rides very well. I have been averaging 42mpg with a heavy foot and mixed driving. If you can get on the highway and keep it under 70mph you should see 50mpg.Why am I selling it? I want 4 doors again. Plus, it's a beetle. You either love them or you don't. I don't. Nothing wrong with the car. In fact I'll be driving it until it sells. Just not my cup of tea. If you're tall you'll love this car. Tons of headroom and leg room.. I have owned many TDIs. I am very familiar with them and this is a great running car. I'll happily deliver this car anywhere in the continental US as long as you pay for my trip home, and give me a lift to the airport. If you live far, I may need a few weeks to plan the trip and get time off work. If you want to fly and buy, I can pick you up at BWI airport in Maryland. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thank you and good luck.
